That said, there are many paths to success in life. No need to disparage or discourage those who find it early. Christina would not necessarily be in a more advantageous position by being and "underdeveloped" 4:25 girl.

For the record, 4:09 and 4:11 are great times for high school girls. The event has progressed remarkably in the past four years. I would consider a 4:09 1500M for a hs girl roughly equivalent to a 4:01-2 mile for a hs boy, both about 1.08xWR for their distance and gender.

And for an U20, 4.09 is fast, but not ridiculous.
Can you just specify people by age, like the rest of the world does? And then someone's a Junior, is that HS or College Junior? And if a HS Junior, the ages seem to fluctuate so much? Tell me - how old is a HS Junior? Anywhere from 16-18 I'd guess - which is a massive range.
#5 U20 in the world is not ridiculous, but it is a little more than just "fast". Call it "world-class junior".I do agree that performance class and record references should be based on age, but High School is a different context than college/pro. It used to represent a significant disadvantage, but with the internet, travel around the country for open meets, pro coaching, etc., it doesn't matter as much as even ten years ago.

I meant it's "fast" in the context that this is an U20, and many U20s in many events are up there with the top adults. This time ranks her 58th in the world in opens.
You're right though, 5th in Juniors is more than just fast, it's elite junior.

Why are you bringing up past results from NCAA outdoor's? Oregon has top notch sprinters every year, Stanford doesn't bother with sprinters...
Try comparing NCAA XC results, you know how Oregon always seems to have top 3 recruiting classes men's and women's, but never puts it together at Nationals

That last lap was insane. Instantly gapped the field when she started pressing with ~350 to go. And she won by a solid margin. How much faster can she go in a few weeks with better competition? 4:07? Faster?!

"They Call Me Flo Pro" is continually negative on Stanford. Must be an inferiority complex or some other mental disorder. All programs have their stars that shine, stars that flame-out, kids that improve, kids that quit. Top programs are under the microscope. The program at Stanford is doing very well under Coach Miltenberg. Listen to Stanford athletes when they are interviewed. More times than not they give praise to their coach, team etc. Maybe they are just more polite than others when interviewed or just maybe they sincerely mean it. I don't hear the same from other kids at other programs.
Oregon has its problems. Their head coach is under the gun for a variety of reasons and having top kids leave the program doesn't bode well. So "They Call Me Flo Pro" support your school (U of O) and take a chill pill on all the negative Stanford stuff. "Are you serious" provided you some food for thought - chew on it.
