Yes, the joking has been fun, but now the facts......
JK not only knows what he is talking about, he know more in his tip of his pinky finger than most so called "experts" on this board know throughout their entire being. He has forgotten more about running than we will ever know.
His methods have been proved time and time and time again to be correct. Confirmation on this board? Mark Wetmore, Arthur Lydiard, Lorraine Moeller, Weldon Johnson, the Japanese great marathoners, Peter Snell, runners from the 60's and 70's and their times vis-a-vis today's times, and on and on and on. Sit back and observe - just be quiet and look at the running scene - honestly, and totally objectively - from world class to local yocals to high school to college to post college. If you really look at what works - it is all very similar to JK's ideas.
The guy knows his stuff. He communicates it well and distinctly. He stands by his core beliefs. He never wavers, never gives in. Why? Because he is right. He is a real, breathing, coaching, trying to help those who will listen, inspiration. He cares about the sport, cares about people, and is one of the running community's most unknown treasures. You should count your blessings that you get so much of his wisdom on the forum for free. FOR FREE!!!!!
JK does this just because he so, so loves the sport. JK breaks the mold - there is no one else like him but not because he is somekind of God-Guru or is perfect or walks on water - but because he cares so much about the sport and helping runners understand what it would take for them to reach their maximum potential long-term. I believe that is what drives him. Anybody can make the choice as to whether they want to put the effort and time in to reach their maximum potential, and JK understands than most will not make that affirmative decision. But he wants to share what it would take and what is the best way to be the best, should we decide we are willing to pay the ultimate price.
Just listen carefully, observe and think about real results from real runners, over a long period of time, and you might be amazed at where you end up. You end up at JK's philosophy.
And let me tell you something, the man can dance too..............
