Your count is wrong. It was 5, and it's been 10 since 2008, which is as far back as the roster goes. Many of those have been significant players for them. I believe their school records would be closer to 1:54, 3:54 and 14:30 if wasn't for these guys.

Dave Marks had his best ever finish at nationals in 2010 before limping through the last three years. Cody Larson was a top 50 guy at XC nats his freshman year, and should have progressed to be top 20. Jimmy Oribo Ran 14:40/30:40 before struggling for years with injuries. Pauric limped through his last track season, barely qualifying for nationals before getting DFL in his heat. So no, they didn't occur at the end of their careers. Outside of Pauric, most struggled for years with injuries and never became what they should have. Any success is despite coach Collins.

I am an lcsc administrator and a friend of Mike. I found this as there has been a tremendous amount of attention on social media since last night. I will let the experts talk about the training, other than to say our program has had tremendous success in mikes 20 years here. Regarding his students I can tell you this,He has virtually no attrition rate with a graduation rate of over 97%.Of the four guys you mentioned, all have graduated or scheduled to next week. Only jimmy was not an all America. Btw jimmy still lives in Lewiston, I believe Mike is still coaching him, and he is running well with a 21st place finish at the high profile blooms day last week.Quite honestly, you sound quite bitter and likely have personal issues with Mike.As I said, he is a personal friend. His integrity and personal commitment to his athletes, his school and his community is UNQUESTIONABLE.Finally, I will add that his wife, also a friend, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. People like Mike and the Collins family need support. Not the negative tearing down that you and people like you would do in an environment like this.I encourage you to let go of whatever has caused you to be so bitter and work to make yourself and others better. Life is better for everyone that way.

Did you know that of the 5 foreign male runners in the last 5 years that only 4 of them raced at nationals (Sam Atkin, Jimmy Oribo, Pauric McLaughlin, and Stephen Broadhurst)?

Did you know that since 2008 there have been 25 different runners on the men's XC team who represented the team at nationals, and only 7 have been foreign?

Did you that Dave Marks best finish at XC nationals was 5th, his senior year in 2012?

Did you know that Dave Marks' injury after the 2010 season was a broken heel that occurred in a freak accident totally unrelated to running?

Did you know that Cody Larson placed 96th at XC nats his freshman year, 72nd his sophomore year, 55th his junior year, and in his one off race as a senior placed 53rd?

Did you know that Jimmy Oribo ran his PRs of 14:36 and 30:46 (both at nationals, so running his best at the end of the season) in 2011; his last track season with eligibility?

The other guy is a clown, but that 97% rate isn't very honest, and graduation rate is easy to manipulate. I know of a handful of guys that quit the team, or didn't finish. Quickly looking through the rosters over the years, it looks like there's 1-2 guys on average every year that don't come back to the team.

Mike's wife having cancer doesn't preclude him from criticism. His training can be questionable at times. I know a lot of the LCSC guys, and the talent levels were usually far above what they raced.

Of those handful, you know which ones ones have not returned because of church missions? Coach has been accepting of all kinds of Runners from all cultural backgrounds. Many of the guys that have not returned went on Church missions, both LDS and non-lds. Often times after returning from their mission they decide either not to go to school or to go closer to home.

I would also be curious as to how many of those people that you view as non-returning we're actually dismissed from the team. I know myself that Coach Collins dismissed 5 during my from the team during my tenure because they were not willing to adhere to the norms and accepted standards that all student athletes were required to let alone the higher standard that Coach Collins has for cross country and track athletes.

The point is that there are some very bold claims based off of misinformation being made by individuals who really don't know what they are talking about. I would hardly consider a program that very regularly finishes nationals higher than they were ranked coming in as being a team that is "out-coached by better coaches when it matters." You seem like a very bitter individual who is harboring a lot of resentment; that is not healthy and you shouldn't let your fragile emotional state hinder your ability to base your assessments off of the facts. You are obviously a fellow LCSC Warrior and understand the way things work in the Lew. Your assessment of our team's cultural background is very correct and there has been a number of LDS kids who have come and gone in recent years. There is also a fair amount of runners who are either dismissed from the team or suspended for failure to follow team rules.

You did well, very well indeed. Thank you.

Eat it...this is Cody Larson and I got a 28 on my ACT. I went to LCSC for reasons other than because I'm "dumb" as you say. I don't care who you are, come race me here in Lewiston...haven't run in months and I'd walk all over you.
