He ran 21.35 as a 1:46 guy. Are you really going to try to argue a 21.35 guy can't break 11? His 10.6 was as a 1:51 guy and he did the same training all aong as the 8 was always his focus.

Really, since Duane Solomon was the subject of the OP, remind me of his 1500 resume? This is a lesson in belief perseverance here. Many examples of sub 11 - some legitimately rebuffed - have been given only for the deniers to change the rules as they are shot down. From the other side of the coin, I have trained four 10.8/10.9 guys for the 800 that refused to run the 8 once they broke 11. So instead of being sub 1:50 800 runners - all were in high school and could have been national class if they stuck with the 8 - they ended up mediocre college 400 guys, only one of whom received a scholarship. Not one finished his college career. On the flip side the 12. low girls I worked with ended up at NCAAs in the 8 or 15.

How about the 45-46 sec 400m guys running the 800? You don't think Rudisha, who averages 11.3 for 400m could break 11 in 100m? Or that can run a sub 22 200m?

There certainly will be some 800m guys that can break 11 from the blocks, it isn't common though. I'm thinking maybe Amos who ran 44.1 in the Beijing 4x400m, he certainly has the speed.
Like someone said, Curtis Beach broke 11 and ran 1:47.
The argument before about 1500m guys is different. 400/800 guys like Amos and Berian are fast. Over 200m Amos has run 21.34. That strongly suggests sub 11. Even if you say he would run a faster 200m than 2x his 100m, he will still break 11, 21.34 ÷ 2 = 10.67. He has a lot of time to play with there.
Very few will break 11 but there will be a few that can break 22. *Many will break 22 at the elite level. There have been others like Amos who will break 11.
Jebreh Harris ran 21.3x and 1:45 in the same season. Certainly could break 11. Tons of middle D guys can break 11.
If you can't, you're not considered fast.
Dudes who do almost 0 distsnce training like Ashton Eaton can run 10.1 and 2:30 1k at the same time. if you don't think a shit ton of 800 guys can run 10.8/1:45 at the same time, you are mistaken.

Where is Ventolin when you need him?
Ventolin will predict 1:40 and sub 10 for all mid D elites. Jim Ryun could probably have run 9 flat.
EL G , Kiprop, Coe,Rui Silva and a slew of others could run sub 11. I bet Kiprop could potentially do it at the end of a mile off five minute pace.
Ever heard of Nourredine Morceli? He could run under 11 at the end of a 800.

The website with full results clearly shows it was not Marcin (who ran the 800 and 1500 instead that day). IAAF website is full of mistakes like that.

As an undertrained college sophomore I managed a 4:03 at 4200 ft. - my fastest 800 before then was 2:06 and I never ran under 56 for a 4.
You'd think with 1:50 fitness coming through the half at 2:08 or so would be a walk.

Sorry you can just see from that video they are not running the pace they claim.
Please can all observe a real 15 second 150m and see the difference. It embarrasses me when runners claim ridiculous feats like this.
