Golden League blacklist is not right

While I'm not sure if I completely agree with the blacklist decision, I can understand where they are coming from. Remember last summer when a certain steeplechaser by the name of Boulami broke the world record? He was soon found to be guilty of doping, and his world record was taken away and the race lost all legitimacy. The Golden League race directors do not want these meets to lose legitimacy in such a manner, so I can understand that they would want to keep anyone with any real connections to drug use to be kept out, "just in case." I'm not saying that I agree with the decision, but I can understand some of the reasoning behind it.

as to what's happening>> i say GOOD! bout time they show some balls. It's not like Tim and Marion are being banned from competition, they can still compete at other profesional meets, world champs, and olympics, they just can't compete at a select few races.

at this point, wether or not they test positive for drugs, i'm going to have to assume they're on stuff. You don't go to Toronto during winter just to see a guy that is suppose to be good with mechanics when you're at that level, allready have a good coach, and you're switching to a guy with a bad reputation, and you try to hide it by saying you're being coached by someone else

everybody is 'on the stuff' it just depends if 'the stuff' is on the banned list or not..very arbitrary

lance armstrong is most likely clean as a whistle now.. but was he always? and he is certainly surrounded by an entourage of people under suspicion

Get over the race thing and stop being a victim. People arnt down on them because they are black or up on Lance because he's white, that may be your way to cry for attention or an excuse. Were are all Americans (for the most part) or at least a part of a community, and by black balling these two who are definatly in the spot light we are sending out a message: The Dope Stops Here. Judge Wapner & Portland Runner, I believe you missed the point I was making in that Paddy had stated, ?you want to dope? Fine, you ain?t getting no gold?, implying that the IAAF?s beef and actions are with the wonder couple doping themselves. I had to point out that there have been no positive tests and were this the case I?m certain that they would have some sort of deflamatory case with the IAAF. Keep in mind I am from a much more progressive country than America and that lawsuits are rather rare in these parts as are television channels. As well, guilty by association holds little water as Francis is allowed to coach outside of any Canadian national teams.

i can understand people being suspicious. but sorry, that´s what u got to be about almost everyone at the top. i understand people being mad or dissapointed cos of the connection with Charlie Francis, cos of his reputation.

But banning athletes for being coached by somebody who they don´t want their names conneceted with?

Excuse me, what was the phrase like? Innocense until proven Guilty? Damn, they never tested positive for anything and get treated worse than almost all of the drugcheats in the last 4 years. How can they not invite them (Marion and Tim), but invite people who definitely tested positive for drugs and come back from their bans? That´s some major BS.

These two are stupid beyond belief. The IAAF should suspend any athletes working with a coach who advocates giving medals to the chemists who invent new performance enhancing materials. He is no better than the Chinese coach with his world record enducing "herbal performance enhancers".

Tim and Marion are definitely fools for associating with Francis, even if they are clean> I think banning them is premature but its their meet they can run whoever they choose. I think all these meet directors should make a pact or whatever not to allow anyone who has been busted to run even after the suspension is up. That might put a little more sting to getting caught in that it effectively but not literally ends their career except for championships which pay little like worlds, or not all.

I would have thought it was easier to promote events with European stars in Europe. There are several such interesting events, including ones in which the world record may be under threat in the coming year.

In the 100 m it is normal practice to hype up the top ranking people you have booked and totally ignore those who you have not booked. Most people probably assume those who are missing are injured or have retired.

I myself support the GOLDEN LEAGUE in banning Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones for their association with Mr.

Charlie Francis. The comments that Mr. Francis made concerning only losers don't use drugs is completely devoid

of any respectful and logical coach.

The baffling aspect of this matter is why would they leave the coach who coached you to a TREMENDOUS world record-Tim,

and an undefeated season-Marion. The question is what do those two think Mr. Francis can do for them that Trevor Graham couldn't????? I would really like to hear a reason as to why they would leave Trevor Graham after their super

season and they had no MAJOR conflict with Mr. Graham!

The Golden League has an obligation to promote the sport to its greatest capacity, while upholding its intergity (Guilty of future doping or not Tim and Marion actions are lined to heavy in the GREY area)!
