That would be because she set a road age record of 16:45-46 last year at the age of 16 at Chris Thater in Binghamton, NY. She has since set & re-set the 17 age record twice in the last month. First on a very slow course in Dryden NY, 17:04 & last weekend in Roch. NY 16:24. So she owns both 16 & the 17 year old female 5K records, set almost a year apart.

LOL, I'm surprised one of the "Negative Nancy"s who criticized her decision 18 years ago didn't bump this thread last February and blame her performance at the Olympic Trials Marathon on her 5K from high school. "If she wouldn't have run that stupid 5K back in high school ..."
