The Dreamland in 5 points is a poor imitation of the real Dreamland in Tuscaloosa.
This angry fellow who has impugned the honor of the the Homewood Steakout sounds like someone of low character and poor tastes. It is the very height of budget dining. For $10, you will receive a bountiful and delicious feast that you would pay $30+ anywhere else.
I would be wiling to compare PRs or VDOT score to settle this matter.

I agree on the Homewood Steakout. The food there is delicious. This angryjohn must be some sort of a crestline foodie snob.

The OP asked about Birmingham, but I do love me some Colorado. What trails do you recommend in Boulder? I hiked up to the top of the Flat Irons when I was out there last year. I'd like to find something more conducive to running but I'm not that familiar with the area.
I've heard great things about the city from my buddy Chris Lear but know nothing about the city. Please tell me what I should do today and tomorrow before the track action takes place.

Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. You don't have to go upstairs for all the stick and ball stuff if you are short on time but the Jesse Owens (born in Alabama) exhibit downstairs is inspiring. A life size B&W photo of the infamous Berlin long jump is Owens is on the walls and a statue of him is suspended in mid-flight.
Carl Lewis born in Alabama also.

I LOVED Saws. I got the pork and greens as everyone suggested. Pretty amazing. Part of the appeal is the whole in the wall aspect but it was awesome.
I also went to Gus's at everyone's suggestion. Bumped into the Boise State coaches there. Truly amazing place as well for hot dogs. Reminds me of a hot dog stand I went to in Maine of all places this summer - Flo's Hot Dogs.
Tonight, we went to another barbecue place. Dreamland. I didn't even realize it was the place some people recommended.

Both my college roommate (a 338 guy whose wife is from Selma) recommended it as well as the relatives of the 358 Cornell miler (who work at UAB). I loved it. I think my college roommate didn't realize there was even once in BIrmingham. But if the one in tuscaloosa is better that's pretty amazing as I loved it as well.
So I've still got a day to burn tmw.
What should I do? I was thinking of seeing the sports museum or civil rights museum perople are talking about. Or driving to Selma. What about church. Someone in one of the first posts asked me why I didn't ask Chris lear for suggestions. Chris loved this place as he felt the poeple were geniue, "The only place where I felt there were real christians" who actually cared about you and not about looking religious. So any churches that you recommend?
Of course I just realized I'm losing an hour with daylight savoing so I may not be up in time to make it!!
