Again, because nobody cares about those things. Nike may hate gays as well, but they know damn well that having people say stuff like that will hurt their bottom line. Using child labor doesn't.

No they wouldn't. As I mentioned, most Christians don't actually follow the bible.

Translation - its better to use communist countries to employ children for pennies, than to say my religion teaches marriage heterosexual only, and that gay marriage isn't

the latter being much more unethical and deserving of harsh treatment, and basically no one should say a word in opposition to said treatment. pfffft

You're really going to double down on the idea that a Christian wouldn't think heterosexual marriage is the only legit marriage?

You're not being very bright. How shocked are you right now that a known Christian has this view? ARe you floored? Do you think Nike is SURPRISED?

Perhaps they can hire a Muslim and be shocked too if the same applies.

It really just comes down to this. Nike has reckoned that there are more people who might not buy their products because they're associated with someone who makes comments like Picqu...whatever his name is than there are people like you who would boycott for dropping him. Get the numbers on your side and your side will win.

You keep making this about Christianity. It isn't. The bottom line is that Nike hired him to represent their brand, and he expressed views that hurt their brand. That's it. Nike would have probably done the same thing if he had publicly said the Holocaust never happened, the moon landing was faked, or that Paul McCartney died and was replaced by a look alike. His comments just happened, in this case, to be religious in nature.

My advice to you? If you don't like Nike, don't buy their products. I certainly don't. Just spare us the sanctimonious butt-hurt.

YOure being purposefully argumentative just to argue. If you were to describe religious views on marriage what would you say about them? "The Catholic church is unclear on marriage?" No. You know very well what they teach. You know what Islam teaches. If you don't then just google it. But I think you know what the official stances are. And you also are not so gullible to believe that these religions are empty of membership. Theres billions of religious people in the world and you're banking on every one of them who is hired is a non-follower in every way that's politically incorrect

Here's a thought. Perhaps a grocery store company should hire a vegan as a spokes person, and assume they have no problem with eating meat. Then when that same person makes a tweet about "don't eat chickens its disturbing" you can argue that "well who can assume a vegetarian would be against killing chickens for dinner"

Your claim was that 50% of people hold a particular belief because 50% of people fall into a particular group of religions. This claim relies on the assumption that 100% of members of these religions hold the views you state. What a religion teaches isn't really relevant, since we're talking about personal beliefs, and people within a religion are free to disagree.

Anyway, many Christian churches perform gay marriages, so clearly not all Christian churches promote the same beliefs.

Nike dropped Manny because increasingly he has said things about gays that lack factual basis and simply sound stupid—such as the claim that animals know better than to engage in homosexuality, which aside from sounding rude is false, because scientists have identified homosexual behavior in animals. The real disdain with Manny on Nike's part wasn't his faith, but his ignorance. Here's someone who aside from what he believes his faith professes doesn't understand any biological basis of homosexuality and makes unscientific statements. He's a boxer, his job isn't to say things about political issues where he lacks facts. Granted, he's also a politician but all the more reason why he should research his topics before speaking on them.

Nike isn't anti-Christian at all. Galen Rupp and other Nike athletes are Christians and often speak of their profound faith, yet they manage to do so without spreading inaccurate information or rabble-rousing in the process.

Some points for you to consider before you side with Pacquiao:

1) He called gays, "worse than animals". Seriously?

2) He later posted a verse from the Bible that says this, "Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

3) So, if you believe that point #1 is just his opinion and he has a right to that opinion, you would be CORRECT, but that doesn't mean a large company needs to hook it's wagon to that homophobic crap.

4) If you believe that the Bible verse is golden, then you believe and follow all the other things said in the Bible too, like...you are never to approach a women when she is "unclean", if a child curses his parents, he is to be put to death, if you work on the Sabbath, you are to be put to death, if you eat anything in the ocean without scales and fins you have sinned, you are not to wear clothing made of two kinds of material, you should not round the corners of your head, if men are fighting with each other and the wife of one of them intercedes by grabbing the other man's testicles, you are to cut off her hand.

5) And finally, what the F**K is up with "Christians" getting all bent out of shape over homosexuality? It's not one of the Ten Commandments, and the others are broken all the freakin' time and no one seems give a crap.

Evangelical Christians LOVE to rip on other Christians by saying they just pick and choose what they want to believe from the Bible when they do the same freakin' exact thing. This is a complete waste of time this whole diatribe. When you hire religious people they have viewpoints. You know what they could be. what they likely are. Manny obviously does subscribe to this viewpoint and Nike shouldn't have fired him. It's a disgrace. He stated a known religious tenet. You act like you've never heard of it before. You also assume every Christian violates their own beliefs. It's probably more respectful to assume they don't. Either way you're making arguments about what YOU prefer people believe because you find it unappealing they way they believe. But they have a right to believe it, and Nike does NOT have the right to fire people over a religious view unless you hate the civil rights act.
