NCAA 5k...Seidel or Ostrander?

To answer the OP: if Erin has a bad day, then I think Allie seems to have the slight edge, even though Molly looked really strong in that 15:19.

Molly isn't going to let it be slow and tactical. Molly only wins if its a fast grind from the gun. If it's tactical she gets outkicked by Ostrander and places 2nd or worse.

Molly and Allie are on another level compared to Finn and Rohrer.

I can't believe no one called the poster out about this.

Did someone just reference Allie as closing in 4:38 based off her DMR split? That's not closing, that's running a fresh mile. Closing is what you do for a split at the end of a race where you ran the whole race....

I had the same issue with Lisa Uhl and was slapped down from this board and told that she would eventually have the AR in the marathon. Where is she now?

Decent chance that Allie takes the 3k, Molly the 5K. There will be some great races.

Seidel won cross while banged up from a bicycle accident. She is tough as nails and smart enough not to let the 5k get shortened to a sit and kick race. Now that she is healthy as evidenced at ACCs, real question is whether she wins 3k as well?

So, if she drops a 15:08 5k, that 3k double attempt will be mighty interesting to watch.

Molly was struggling and fading at the end of her 8:57 3k earlier this season. I know it was her 1st race of the season, but I think that's a sign that Allie takes the 3k.

I think in the 5k, Molly only wins if she makes it a blistering pace from the gun and runs sub 15:10 or something.

Given that Seidel scratched that December 5k and did not debut until early February, she probably was still gaining fitness all of February. So with 3 weeks between that 8:57 (won by 4 seconds) and her ACC double of 15:19/9:02, that suggests an athlete rounding into form.

Having watched the ACC 5k, with two more weeks of training she sure looks capable of sub 15:10.

Question is can Ostrander double as well as Seidel?

Her training is longer tempo efforts, which allows the pace to build throughout the race.

She'll be hard to catch with a head of steam in the 5k.

Oh, and I've seen her eat, ha, there are no problems there, she is a healthy girl.

What're you her mother?

What do you mean by longer tempo efforts? What are some example workouts she does?

It was. Coach Ihmels likes to ride the distance points whenever possible, evidenced by Betsy Saina tripling the mile/3k/5k at Iowa State.

i think allie ostrander will win this one,but i dont believe she'll go near the record,this year.

I just have to come back and say her dropping out of the 3k tonight helps to confirm my suspicion of injury.
