So what was his name before the operation?
Any LRCers out there near where this race is being run?

I am....that's how I heard about this whole thing. The race is using this to advertise. Claiming Runners World will be there to verify.

Are you capable of running 51 minute 10 mile pace? ( I know, I know, stupid question here on LRC)..you need to bandit the race (well, preferably register for it) and run with her the entire time just to make sure she doesn't pull a Rossi.

Come on man, 51 minutes is a easy run for Letsrun posters! I am betting BuckShot will run around 48 minutes and then stand at the finish line gobble gobbling until the next person finishes, as is the Letsrun Tradition.

Someone commented "I think Jill told a whopper" (or something similar) on the FB post, but as of this morning it's been removed. If they've contacted RW and other media already, I think wejo and rojo need to get involved as well.

Yeah I ran a 1:46 800. It was a relay split. My open is only 2:03. Ran in pure hate
I once heard of a kid who ran an 8 second pr in the state 4x800.

This is the e-mail Pretzel City Sports (the timing/promotion company) sent out yesterday.
http://i.imgur.com/MFC7IaR.png?1Pretzel City is a legit timing company, so I would think they would be able to call bs if they saw it (and especially before sending out an email). Maybe this thing is for real. A quick google search of the runners name finds nothing.
LRC should blow up the facebook comments.
I was unaware that Mike Rossi had a sister who also runs?
I hope she sticks to the roads...or else Kara's definitely got no shot at the 10000 team.
Maybe she races in a wheelchair?
This is odd. I think they'd know by now that an unknown runner is extremely unlikely to have run that training time or have a shot at the record. That, and the fact that the named runner might work for the sponsor makes it look like a they're setting up a joke of some sort.
But they seem to be seriously advertising it to runners as a chance to see a record set, which would be a super low move if it's going to be a joke.
I love the ridiculous claim stories - Brian Lawlor, A__ V__, the Troy AL Greg Price, ... - but those are just individuals making up crap. This has an actual race apparently taking the claim seriously.
My money is on this being a joke, but they've already taken it too far.

Oh, I like it!
Maybe while wearing cutoff daisy duke jean shorts and a sweet headband!

As long as he does it in trainers, I am okay with this.

You owe me for the coffee I just spit out onto my couch. Thanks.
The PCS e-mail references a 52:12 record, but isn't it 51: something set by Molly Huddle in 2015? Has anyone alerted Molly that her record's about to fall? ;)

Wasn't that broken a couple years ago?

Did Huddle run in a women-only race? USATF lists Janet Bawcom's 52:12 as the fastest women-only time, fastest overall is Deena Kastor's 51:31 en route to her AR half marathon. It's important to get these things sorted before the race, it would be a shame if Jill runs 51:35 and only later finds out that she just missed the record.
