Those drones last year were da' bomb! Most impressive shots of a road race I've ever seen. Seriously, even if you guys aren't interested in a field with no Americans, watch some of it tonight for the cinematography. But be warned, you'll be bitch'n more than ever about the domestic coverage of races over here after you witness this.

Agreed. The coverage is outstanding and it doesn't even come close to any other marathon.

I propose they do two different broadcasts of the major marathons. One in which the die hard running fans can watch. Where they just focus on the elites and give mile by mile (or kilometer by kilometer) splits and don't go to commercial breaks during crucial points in the race (or if they do go to commercial have it be picture in picture). The second telecast can have all the lame hobby jogger garbage about the fat lady who's "running" for diabetes and the crippled fireman who's running his first marathon after losing a leg.

Depends what you call "very good weather". It is usually a bit too warm for top performances.

Right now, 10min before the start, it is 63F with 82% humidity. I would be surprised if anyone breaks 2:06.

I'd prefer to watch the later(second telecast). Besides doesn't matter if you run with one leg or no legs and/or you're 400 pounds...you're always a winner if you finish... and theirs a lot of winners I want to see cross the Dubai marathon finish line. Remember eveyone that.. Everyone's a winner if you try. Good luck to all!!!!

The commentary has cut out for the last few minutes, but I've got to say there's something beautiful about hearing nothing but the pitter-patter of rapid footsteps in the early-morning darkness.
