The best runner is not always the one who wins Footlocker. Shalane Flanagan was the best her senior year but collapsed at the NE regional and didn't run at Foot Locker. Mike Fout won beating Derreck, Fernandez and Puskedra. Nobody would deny they were better than Fout, who was great in his own right. Aislinn Ryan won the girls race as Nicole Blood was way back. Blood beat her many times that seasons by large margins at Manhattan, States, Feds, Footlocker NE. She was just exhausted by the end of the season with the additions of NXN that year.
