Bruce Kidd was incredible in his era and today would beat the best under 19 runners in America. It is important to consider that Bruce ran 13:43 for 5k on a track made of crushed cinders that erodes as the laps pass on. I bet that would be 13:30 on today's track. Anyway, I respect Mr. Kidd's performances just as much as those of Jim Ryun who ran 3:55 for the mile on beat-up cinders in Bakersfield, CA 40 plus years ago. Tinman

Jim Ryun set a mile world record of 3:51.3 in July of 1966. He then lowered his own world record to 3:51.1 in 1967.
