Yeah but Farah was only 15 seconds ahead of Lebid, so if Farah nearly killed himself and was not much ahead of Lebid, then that simply shows he was in his mid 20s and barely beating relatively mediocre runners and then suddenly he is unbeatable. It does not add up.

AD in general and the BP in particular has helped Americans, I suspect several U.S. Athletes may have lost out on a medal because of doping. I don't think it is an accident that distance times overall have digressed or leveled off over the last decade. It is still relatively easy to micro blood dope when you are not being tested frequently during OOC. Anti doping programs in Africa are weak to non existent and in some cases I think the federations are compliant. There appears to be an unwritten rule in Africa that you don't block any man's opportunity to make money and provide for his family. I see this in age cheating, where the federations and other athletes actually joke about how a certain athlete competing at world youth has 3 kids. Knowing this, why would doping be treated any differently. This is not to say that doping in Africa is widespread, but I am saying that anti doping and age cheating will never be placed above money.

Note that Bezabeh (winner in the XC video) was nailed for blood-doping.

That workout is quite similar to Komen's session with Bob Kennedy. I am among those who believe that Komen was dosing EPO at the least, but regardless, it indicates Farah is below 7:23 3000 shape (buttressed by his 3:28, faster than Komen, who never ran the 10000)

Is Mo any skinnier than he was before? Yes, he and Rupp are light but why focus on them? For example, I think Solinsky dropped weight in 2010 and had a great year. I don't know how he did it.Maintaining a low weight seems mostly like a diet issue.

If it was that simple, all the elites would be skeletons just like Mo. Solinsky's injuries exemplify how you can't be that severely underweight for that long and still be an elite athlete. Not by natural means.

Given Mo has now: taken a WR off Bekele, is the 9th fastest man in history over 1500m and just won 10,000m gold in a faster time than any of Gebr's gold medal efforts and almost 30s better than his lifetime best prior to joining Salazar ..... the biopassport also seems to have had an amazing effect in slowing down time or shortening distance....

Ask any British distance runner - Mo was known to indulge in fast food on a regular basis, especially after races. Also he was very deficient in the gym. All that changed with Salazar.

Now at night instead of crisps and Indian take aways - Mo will have a bowl of oatmeal with soy milk and a banana.

All those details have made a difference.

Lance Armstrong was very strict with his diet also. Armstrong also was concerned with his weight/power ratio as I am sure is Salazar and those he coaches. I am sure Farah has improved his diet. This does not preclude one from using PEDs.

It's SIMPLE, but it's not EASY.

Everyone knows that these things will improve your running: a good night's sleep; eating healthy stuff at the right times and no more than you need; doing your mobility and S&C regularly. How many can actually achieve that consistency?

What we have lately is groups like Team Sky and NOP providing an incredible level of support and supervision to MAKE athletes do all the little 1% things, consistently, more of the time.

This seems more likely to me to produce top class results than some as-yet-unknown wonder drug.
