I've gone for periods of several years at a time without talking to various or all members of my family.
I plan on moving to Quebec next year and I don't intend on spending any time here ever again. I'd rather just be somewhere else.

Damn, i intended to major in Internet MeSSAGE board typing.
You sound like a brat to me.
guys i dont want to start an internet message forum war.
so please can i just get some advice....i am sorry about my previous antics on asians.
So, you think what you type here has no reflection at all on how able you are to communicate in a coherent manner through writing? Shouldn't it come easily to someone who's actually educated?
no, im sure you actually believe it sucks to grow up asian. ive known many an asian to express the same thing. do yourself a favor, and appreciate everything that IS asian, rather than focus on what sucks about it. There's a reason why Chinese civilization has survived 5,000 years in Asia and why Asians are so disproportionately successful in this country. would being raised by latino, black, or white parents provide any relief? ive heard many white kids complain about their overbearing parents too.
for some reason, my father insisted that my sister go to school at UC Davis instead of Berkeley. Im sure it had something to do with his being so conservative that no daughter of his would go to that hippie school. But eventually, my other sisters wore him down and they went to Berkeley.
there was a good ER on tv last thursday. Ming Na (the doctor) has been taking care of her chronically ill father and she's worn out. He asks her to let him die. Her black doctor friend tells her to put him in a nursing home. As a dutiful Chinese daughter, she will never send him to a nursing home or dump her "problem" on someone else, out of ancient Chinese respect for your elders. She ends up pulling the plug on him.
anyway, sorry, what was your question again?
threats--asian parents like to make threats but never really act on them. my very overbearing parents threatened to disown my sister who married a white guy--he's irish, and they dont get any whiter than that. eventually, all three sisters married white and the gratuitous white comments pretty much subsided years ago. still, being the only son, im expected to marry asian. though, i dont feel the pressure my sister's did.
I lived in Seattle for a while doing an internship during college. RE. UW, it's clearly the better choice academically. Unless youve lived on campus at UW, WSU, or WW for any extended period of time, you cant really get a good feel for "atmosphere." Atmosphere and environment should NOT be your primary reason for choosing a school. Youre going to college for one thing only--to get the best education you can, not the best scenery. Many adults take jobs in locations they absolutely hate, but it's good for their careers and family, so they grin and bear it.
UW and Seattle are not really that bad, are they? Im sure WW and WSU have their own drawbacks. College is not about the buildings and pretty campus. It's about opportunities and the experiences you make. You could do alot worse in life than to have parents forcing you to go to a top university in the country.
that said, if you can go it on your own and rely on your scholarships, you should do what you want to do. but if your parents are footing the bill, then just remember that they are under no obligation to do so. it's essentially an investment they are making in you. if you had $100,000 to invest in anything you want, youre not going to invest that money in something you dont believe will produce a nice return. neither will your parents.
comsider this a business transaction between you and your parents. or consider this your first job in sales & marketing. prented donald trump has assigned you the task of selling WSU/WW to your parents. if you fail, then you will be fired and relegated to UW. And that's not really a bad consolation prize.
enough of my rambling. good luck.
You have all the advice you need. Get your head on straight and either do what those who support you want or get your butt out and support yourself in what you want to do. Just knock off the childish whining on here already.

Dude I am sorry. I would really appreciate some advice. I will use english gramtical skills here, so I can get some advice.
DyeStat has many young Asian boys like you who could probably offer some relief. This is a mature forum here.
Your education, your life, your choice. That's how I view it,it alos helps that my parents just want me to be happy and do what I want, but on top of that they aren't paying for it, so it's my perogative and eventual debt.
Agreed. The Interurban Trail, Lake Padden, Pine/Cedar Lake, Whatcom Falls, and the whole Sehome Hill area are quite excellent. Bellingham is a great place for running, especially if you like hills.

all i know is, the running around western washington university is some of the best i've *ever* seen. you will love being a runner there, just do it.
Why don't you let your parents read this thread? You've gotten a lot of advice and constructive critisism. See what they think.
Thanks for that.
Yeah I have scholarships to the schools I want to go to. They wouldn't be paying for a cent. And I didnt have enough scholarship money I would at least take out loans and get a part time job.
Not only do I want to go to those other schools because of the campus, but it is also because I live only 20 minutes away from the UW, so my parents would always be on my ass about stuff. They said even if I do get a scholarship to UW they want me to comute from home. I would just like to get away from them, and live independently for once.
I also like what Western and WSU has to offer me for my future academically and career wise. I would like to be a teacher (haven't decided what subject, maybe either English or History) and those two schools have really good programs to lead me to the path of my career.

Uh, WHEN?

So, you'll be paying for your car and insurance, too?
Oh yeah I forgot to mention.
I may not be a good runner yet, (would have been fast this year ie:17s but got anemic. Ran about 80 mpw average this summer.) but Western has a really good DII program. Plus, yes they do have los of good running spots.
Running is a huge factor in the role where I want to go and Western or WSU can meet to my demands.
Westernis becoming a really good DII program. And WSU has produced a lot of good runners. Gerry Lindgren, Bernard Lagat, and many other runners long ago.
I've planned to actually not take a car, the community which these colleges reside in commute mostly using bus systems or walking.
If you're looking at teaching, Eastern has probably the best reputation as a teachers school of the Washington state colleges. My wife is a teacher, and graduated from there.
No health insurance?
In all due respect stop being an ass clown sir.
