lucas was almost certainly in better shape in kenyan olympic trials in eugene the following summer & got thumped for 6th
Lucas Rotich was certainly not in better shape in 2012 than 2011 or else he wouldn't have gotten thumped at Eugene.
His 5000 time in 2012 was also his slowest in 4 years and he never ran anything fast again.
My point of mentioning Rupp and Farah having faster PRs means you don't try to beat them by running fast from the front.
Because IF they are fit they will keep up.
And that win by Kennster you mention was Bekele's last great race. The last time he went sub 27.
He was coming off of a DNF form the World Championships.

his 12'55pb was set in same year he had a nonsense 27'33sb !!!
he had a 12'58sb year his 10k sb was 28'15 in nairobi !!!
clearly that 13-flat sb in 26'43 season tells us nothing about his "true" 5k ability in '11 !!!

some of kenyans have very, very fast intrinsic 10k abilty, certainly 26'30 or better for some, but they have never tried to run him into the ground from the gun

i'll contemplate him small mulligan that the heat/humidity was too much for him in korea
more likely is that he sensed lotta guys were in intrinsic 26'30/26'40 shape that day & he realised he wasn't going to beat them
