Definitely. A 2:30 or 2:50 may or not sound impressive. But showing up and placing top 5 or 10 in an event with thousands of participants, that gets some notice. But you have to be nice and a bit humble too. Definitely impossible for this crowd.

Now if you told a woman you ran 10 marathons, a marathon on 5 different continents, or something like that , you'd probably get them excited . How fast you ran it, they could care less. They can relate to quantity much better than quality in this particular arena.

Whoops! I'm in my 2nd 10% ABV beer and working quite a buzz, but I still may have botched that if sober. Thanks for pointing that out. My point was, women prefer quantity over quality.
A marathon time should never come up in talking to an attractive female.

I am a 2:40something marathoner. I dated a skinny really hot woman who does color runs and slogged through a marathon in roughly 5hours. She is very skinny and probably only runs at all 3-4 months of the year (takes the winter seasons and cold months off).
Our first date didn't go well at all. Bill was about $60 and she offered to split but then let me pay for it. FYI - I never told her any of my times. When I asked her at the end of the date if she wanted to maybe go for a run sometime, she said, "I'll let you know."
A couple months later I still haven't heard anything back from her.
I'm impressed. That's hard to do even with ideal training. However, non-runners won't care.

You have to run faster. Period. You need upper 2:30's or better. I have a 2:23 PR from 1982 and if I ever want to "impress" someone, I just say my time would get me 20th *(or whatever) in last year's NYC Marathon, or my best time would have won Marine Corps Marathon or something. You need a better time. Upper 2:30's would be a high finish in say, the Jacksonville or Birmingham Marathons. Do-Able if you are any good or committed.
My experience, however, is that women are impressed by character and having a nice shape, sense of humor and personality. You have to be interested in THEIR stuff. Once that happens, they will like almost whatever you say your time is.
Marathon times and trying to impress someone with that should only be a "backdrop", not a primary tool to impress someone.
TIP: Wear a shirt from a race you did well on for the second date if you get that far. Make it a talking point but not the main subject of the date :)[quote]

I can only assume you talked to either a female who is a jogger, mid pack runner, or non-runner and does not care. Most non-runner friends have no idea about a time. Some of my friends who don't run call 5k's "5k marathons".
To win a local 5k in 19 minutes would impress them more than if you came in 2nd in 14:40.
I can only assume I'm older than you, so here is what I can tell you about women; They are in many ways, no different than men. Most judge a man by the following: looks, build, success, material items.
Example: Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones comes to your house. Except, he is not a famous rock star. He is the repair man for your oven. Is he hot now?
Life is not fair. The better looking people get better treatment. It's just the way it is. Look at the hot girl who turns heads. She knows it. How could she not?
Not only do the better looking get treated better, but so does the guy in the expensive car, with an expensive suit. Perfect example; I went to pick up my wife at work while in my shorts and t-shirt. Many female employees there. No one took a second glance. Weeks later, I was picking her up after I had a meeting and had on a suit. I was treated better.
Does any average person know who came in second in the Olympics in the marathon, decathlon, etc. No. nor do they care.
so, after this long-winded rant, the reason women are not impressed with your 2:50 marathon, is because that is not something they really know or care about.
Try accidently letting them know you have a summer home somewhere and that you are a lawyer or successful business man. Watch the treatment change.

Generally people don't know what is a good time. If you ran a 3:5x.xx marathon, most people would be just as impressed. The only people who care about the difference are those who have run between 2:5x.xx and 3:5x.xx.

A sub-3 at last year's NYC Marathon netted a top 2% finish. In my book, that's pretty good.
If you want to pick up girls, don't talk about running. They find it boring. They may want to go on a run with you but don't talk about it. I think a sub-3 is impressive if you are not an elite and work full time. Girls like that you are in shape but there may be fewer than 100 women on earth who want to talk about running. When posters here complain about women, that is usually the culprit. They don't care. I ran a 2:57 when I was 40 but I can tell you for sure that my wife who is smoking hot could care less.

It's hard to look past your social awkwardness even with your sub-3 marathon time.

My friend did a 10k marathon and raised $350 for charity. How much did you raise?
Your main focus should be getting her out on a run, not bragging your times. Once you get her to meet, you next goal should be: partner-assisted stretching.

I doubt anyone will be impressed by your marathon time ever but you might want to focus the search on people who know something about it. Join a casual running club that slants female. There are lots.

Are you an stalker or something? How do you know how often she runs, etc... No wonder she never called back you creep
