It's official. Geoffrey Kamworor did run 13:13 in the heats of the Kenyan champs. Todya he won the final in 13:14. Details from Kip Evans below.

Hi, just to confirm you Geoffrey Kamworor ran 13:13 in the heats of the National Championship thursday, breaking the Championship record and running the 6th fastest time ever in Kenya. Withouth pacemaker they just went for it (2:36.9 first K!) with Emmanuel Kipsang and Isiah Koech (before the latest one let them go a bit after 3k). Kamworor was alone with 800m to go as he crushed a brave Kipsang (who also ran Under the "A Standard").

After the race there was a mistype in the results sheets that were communicated to the local media and nobody noticed nor corrected it so they all announced 13:19 in their respective papers though Geoffrey ran 13:13.

And today Geoffrey ran the final in 13:14.7h... with a 55.0h last lap!

Funny how you immediatelly came to think I was thinking of Farah. I mean, I was, but it's still funny how that doesn't even have to be said for everyone to know the ropes...

Oh come on, folks. Farah will win the WC double. There is really no question about this.

The ONLY way that GK beats him is if he gets a teammate to go out at 12:40 pace for the first 3000 and then GK takes over and drives for home without letting up. Even then the odds are not good. And the odds of a teammate doing this for GK are vanishingly small.

Hi Rojo, it is me - Geoffrey Kamworor. It is true, my actual time was 13:19.28. In the results, for some reason the 9 was replaced with a 3.

It sounds suspect, and Kenyan race timing systems aren't very sophisticated or certified by any process. I suspect 13:19. Let's see what he does at Worlds.

I think they used one of those water turnips. At least, that's what I heard.

Not a huge Mo fan (though I don't dislike Mo), but if Mo maintains his fitness and if he shows up ready to run, there is no one in the world that can beat him right now. Not Ndiku, not Kejelcha, not Gebrehiwet, not Gebremeskel, not Alimerou, not Kamworor... no one. Mo had such a facility waiting till the last 100m in Lusanne and then absolutely blowing past Kejelcha while pumping his fist and waving at the croud. He was LITERALLY playing with the entire field... (supposedly the greatest field ever assembled, though Ndiku and Gebremeskel fell with 600m left to go.... but it wouldn't have made a difference.) If someone beats him in Beijing, it's going to be because Mo had a bad day... not cause someone beat him legitimately.

Ndiku and Kamworor will SLAY Mo Farah!

Attention Nike marketing people, why not have him race in that in Europe. It's distinctive and way better than the ugly purple crap you and adidas determined everyone should race in this year.

The caption for that photo cracked me up, it sure uses a lot of violent words.

"World Cross titleholder, Geoffrey Kamworor warmed-up for a *stab* at qualifying for the Beijing Worlds by *punching* his men 5000m finals ticket at the National Championships that *gunned* off in Nairobi."

Also, running approx thirty seconds faster in the heat than what he needed to qualify for the final does not imply a well developed tactical mind. I fear in Beijing he'll run 12:55 in the heat and wears himself out.
