They race each other in less than 2 weeks at USATF/World trials, just a sidenote as their will be a head to head comparison coming soon, and I am sure they will race many times in their careers.

See fellow Missourian and Wisco teh nostalgic for the track glories. Everyone has their own interest and taste however. It had me thinking of Tracy's miling, also a win over ovett, and the Olympic marathon behind Da castella who was in glorious form when world cross came to the home turf. I will say one thing, sisson seems to be an avid road racer with a mind and enthusiasm for it. What's wrong with 5k, 10k, 15k road racing? Move up to the marathon quickly? I'm curious what conditions are ripe and what the strategy is in athlete mind and lifestyle development. Call her "the Providence metronome" I guess (from track results) maybe that's why "develop the marathon pace mind." 2020 Japan, I forgot who got 2024? And 2028.

Hasay- 8:48, Sisson- 8:52, and Sisson hasn't been to the international and DL level meets Hasay has been at

Sisson would crush Hasay at a Marathon

Since Hasay is a former 1500 runner, I doubt she'll be a great marathoner. I'd take Sisson if I was a shoe company executive. Particulary given the Alberto allegations.

Yeah. That was Grete Waitz' problem. She was a former 1500 runner.
Waitz's problem was that no race longer than 1500 was offered to women in the Olympics until 1984. Every female distance runner who got her start in the 70's (and before) had no choice BUT to be a 1500 meter runner, especially if they wanted to compete in the Olympics.

This board told us that Lisa Uhl was going to be the next great marathoner when she moved up. Before that Amy Yoder Begley was going to be great once she moved to the marathon. History tells us that this is poor logic.
Yep the list of guys that look born for the marathon (Todd Williams springs to mind. You run 27:30 and you should be cracking 2:10 with ease) who struggle is endless. It is like trying to predict 10k times off 1500ms. There is some correlation bu there is a lot variation.

At no point was Hasay ever tagged as an eventual 1500 runner. Too slow. Always outkicked at high level. Her naturally smooth stride always pointed to longer distances. Several years ago I put her in the marathon pigeonhole where I expect good but not great. Maybe 2:25-2:30.

New to board for an old guy. Just want to comment of how Treacy did not double Sission to have chance to grab two ncaa titles. Great coaching..putting athlete first! B Sission's progression to a pro is the way it should be done. Getting a master's degree as a proper back up plan compaired to a sport that may or not pan out. It is better to get a solid education than putting all your eggs in the running basket. Regardless, both Hasey and Session will represent the USA for a long time; both are extremly talented!. I'm biased for long term results out of the east so Jordan should give a relcation a try.

Exactly what I said. Ray T only made a short sentence with one clause according to LRC. The only basis for that is steady splits on top of talent. The rest is unknown reasoning not yet divulged by Ray T. Meanwhile this thread is the usual detour into , excuse for arguing and flaming.
Um, ever heard of Emily INFELD?
Ray probably sees some things in training that indicate road ability over track, in the long run. She certainly seems to have that Benoit-type grinding efficiency and probably a good mentality for competing the longer stuff.

The Norwegians used to inject glycogen before marathons, so that's where she got her "zip"

Did they? I think most people hoped she was successful, but it was pretty clear that she's a much more natural talent at the 10,000/XC distances.
