WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T SHOW UP IN JUST YOUR BLOOMERS! YOU'D SURE LOOK LIKE A REAL HORSE'S ASS!

I have an interview for an assistant track and field coach at a university. Some people have said wear a suit and tie. I think it would be more fitting to dress more like a track coach at a meet (long pants and a polo), or maybe just tie.
What do you guys recommend?
Son, let me tell you something. I can forgive you for asking about what to wear, but your last suggestion of "just a tie" is disturbing.
No one over the age of 8 years old wears a tie without a jacket. A shirt and tie is what you wear at your desk when you are sitting down. Once you stand up, you put on the jacket.
Only a child would wear "just a tie."
This is not advice for your interview. This is advice for your life.
Be sure to ask them about University being on drugs.
Also ask if they will pay you at least $15 an hour...even McDonalds respects their employees enough to pay a living wage! Wear a dress or sexy lingerie like Caitlyn Jenner. Chances are you will be interviewed by a man so it might get you hired.
A stopwatch, and nothing else.
a suit to a track coach interview? seems laughable, guessing this advice is coming from guys on the east coast where they are a little more uptight about things like that....never worn a suit to an interview, gotten every job i've ever interviewed for,,,,,,,and pretty sure a suit would have definitely hurt me in some of those interviews...guess you have to know your crowd.
Common practice is wear one level up from what you would be wearing on the job....but you can never go wrong with a suit.

just fyi Jos. A. Banks occasionally runs sales.
Sidenote: The only "suit" I've ever worn is my Army Service Uniform. Which is only comfortable at the position of attention. Moving is optional.

Dress like a track coach in a suit.
If you absolutely want to wear a suit, go for a track suit.
I know this game. I know that even if everything went perfectly peachy and your program loved me, I still wouldn't get anything from you. I've seen it in the game. People never cross over into reality. They never follow through with what they say. Except for me. I know how they respond when I cross into their real world. My opportunity died as soon as someone forwarded you my writing. They thought they were helping me! Ha! I know I have to get my freedom and my business launched all on my own.

That's it.
You're welcome.
One day at a previous job a dude showed up for an interview wearing a suit AND Vibram's. Needless to say he didn't get the job. I later met someone who knew him and said he wore them all the time "to show people he thought outside the box".
There is no fukking medicine that will take away people watching me!!! Fukkk u.

Hey look, guys! It's a cool guy from the West Coast! Wow!
I recommend a suit too. I just think there are a lot of people who expect it. If you have a sport coat that fits well, you could wear that with a tie and slacks instead. If you buy something, be sure to take it to a tailor, and be sure to take the tag off the sleeve!
Real men wear suits. And get one that fits and isn't wrinkled.
Show up to track meets in your suit. Your team will take you more seriously and other teams will fear you. You will be a professional.
Why would you consider anything but a suit & tie?? Why why why??
You are meeting with an AD. AD's are money men, business men, this isn't the 70's where the AD was an old retired coach. Look like you are a grown @ss man and wear a suit. jeeze.
