He's not. He nearly lost in Australia in 1:44 high after failing to hold the early pace. For the old Rudisha that would be unheard of.
I like Rudisha but the best 800m runners in the world now are Aman and Amos.

I think May is too early to be in good enough shape to break the WR.
Gray's time is underestimated, and must have represented 1:42.5 shape at the time.
Of course a peak Rudisha COULD have run 1:12 low IMO, but I tend to agree with others on here, that it is unlikely he'll ever reach sub 1:41 ability again.
I suspect a 1:13 mid in Ostrava. If he can get into 1:42.0 shape, which I think is possible, then he could break it later in the season and hopefully win the world title. I don't see Aman or Amos going any faster than 1:42.0 this year.
