What about where you put your foot? Do you go up with your arch dangling from the edge of the step, or do you put most of your foot on the step so that your toes are against the base of the next step?

I look at stairs how I look at women. Sometimes you skip one and sometimes you make sure you hit every single one on the way up. it just all depends on how your feeling and how big they are.
I typically try to bound up the stairs clearing as many at once as possible. On a good day i'll go 5 at a time. There is no sense in making contact with so many unnecessary steps if you are capable of clearing them. Its just a waste of time, and in this world, time is money. but strangely enough, money is not time. of course, i guess you could argue with that too. bottom line: if you're taking the time to go up steps 1 or 2 at a time, then you might as well throw your wallet down an open manhole.
I gave up going for more than 2 at a time when I saw a kid fall and bust his face up pretty bad doing that. After I stopped laughing, I only had the breath for 1-2 at a time.
yeah, listen to that guy
have you guys ever tried going up two steps at once but keeping your upper body as straight as possible? When most people go up they hunch over a bit. If you go up the stairs as if someone is pulling you straight up by your hair it is a killer ass and hamstring workout
1 for endurance 2 for speed
My father always told me to take 2 at a time. Good advice that I have always followed.
When running up stairs as a workout I mix it up. Sometimes 1, sometimes 2, sometimes 3. Out of curiosity I timed myself on one of those workouts to see the difference. For a 100 stair climb it took about 31 secs for 1 at a time, 16 secs for 2 at a time, and 14 secs for 3 at a time.
Just thought I would share that with you strangers.
You are aerobically weak
That may be true.
But let's see your numbers BMOC
2044 steps in 10 minutes
Good. I don't know if you are making this up or not but it gives me something to beat the next time I do stairs. Then I'll come back and put up a number that even Jason Rexing couldn't touch.
I hear El G goes up 3 steps at a time.
Have you seen his wife?
no
two at a time.
next challenge is to always finish at the top with your right foot on your last step. Causes you to know exactly which foot to start on which step.
memorized every stairwell in my large four story high school, huge college campus, work sites etc.freaking high school reunion I nailed three straight stairwells 20 years later. . .
gotta find the flow, gotta find the rhythm.
how OCD messed up is that?
2
So you're the new guy in accounting!
always 2, because it makes sense.
I live on the 6th floor and always run up the stairs as fast as I can 2 at a time unless I have a bunch of groceries, or it's the day before a race. In those cases I take the elevator. I don't know if it helps my running any, but I'm a pretty good hill runner.
