Clearly seemed to be the successor to the yellow/black Sock Racer, but I had forgotten that they didn't use the Sock Racer name. I was surprised how relatively hard it was to find a picture. Took a while to grow on me, but than I really like them.

Thanks. That's the one I was asking about....the Air Sock . Looking at the picture brought back fond memories. I ran a trail marathon on Mt Tam in the Air Sock in 1990. It was a great trail shoe.

Why can't any of the shoe companies make a no-nonsense shoe like the Air Sock these days? Light, flexible, cushioned and comfortable.

You're welcome. While there haven't been enough "equivalents" to that shoe over the years (got it in the Spring of '87 while a Soph in college), I'd say that the current Saucony Virrata is fairly close. I've had a bunch of pairs. Little worried about whether it's sticking around, though....

Ohhhhh, yeah. Greatest spike EVER. First full length spike plate as well. Came out for LA '84. In fact, I've got a pair in size 9 somewhere potentially for sale if anyone is interested for nostalgia sake.

You are thinking of the early 90s Air Huarache. It was my all-time favorite triathlon shoe. There was enough neoprene in the upper design that you could wear it without laces.

81-85 where Nike's Best Years. They haven't come close to the line-up of that time frame.

The Olympic Zoom D was by far the best track spike for anything 400M and up.

Truly my favorite spike ever. Asked for a second pair my junior year and ended up with the Air Zoom, truly a horrible spike. I still have the Oly Zoom D, but the midsole separated from the shoe at the end of my sophomore year.

These lead to my first major downtime from running.

Ingrid Kristiansen made that sock racer famous. She ended up getting deported, I believe.
