Who has the FASTEST Dog?

D3 Legend John Weigel had a mutt who he ran with everyday one summer. John was doing 90-100 mile weeks and his dog would sprint way up in front, sprint back to John, and repeat. John estimated he was doing 150 miles a week for the majority of the summer.

My short-hair has taken me down too...not too good on a leash...pulls with the strength of a tractor trailer.

My husky/shepherd mix is a running junky. Ran with me almost every day my senior year of college. Took him to XC camp and he did three different morning runs one morning. He's gone as far as 24 with me(which was probably 30 for him with all the out and back he did). He's run down birds, prairie dogs(not really a challenge), mice, snakes, squirrels, deer(but hasn't caught anything but a fawn yet), and rabbits. He hates to play fetch, but he'll play defense on any dog going after a ball and covers them better than Deion Sanders. Like most huskys, he runs much faster when it's below freezing.

We had cows named Zola and Ella (Willis). Still have Zola-Burgers in the freezer. Nobody would eat them.

I have two siberian huskies. One male, one female. The female is shorter and a big stalkier. The male has nice long legs and is super lean. The male has ran 3:05, and the female has run 3:15-:20. They are more suited for longer distances though. Put them in a 26.2 mile race and I'd bet they'd kick some ass.

A Greyhound usually only runs 500-1000. Much faster than your non-running breeds. If you want to see a domesticated dog humbled, Just encourage one to chase a Coyote, Fox or Wolf. No contest. And the few dogs that can catch these beasts have a very poor chance of winning any fight that takes place unless they have a pack backing them up.

I'd like to see how fast a dog can really run a mile. They don't actually have any physiological supercharging like a horse or an antelope. Basically they have the same traits as a human with twice as many legs :)

A horse on the other hand can run a mile between 1:32 and 1:40. That's fast.

A guy I used to mountain bike with off and on named Justin Thompson used had a dalmation that he would run with, bike with, and roller blade with. This dog was incredible. This dog would go on rides with us and average 20mph!! That is 3 minute miles for anywhere from 10-30 miles. This dog had talent!

I have a 1 year old blue tick coonhound/husky mix named magnolia. She's still early in her development and we don't run her everyday. Don't want her to burn out you know. But anyway she can move. The longest she's gone with us is 10 miles, but that was with great ease. Give her a year and she'll be ready to crush ALL dogs!

I have three Weimaraners....Libbie (as in Hickman) is our fastest and best runner. Have not timed her though. Although I do know she can drop me in a heartbeat...on the other hand, so can my wife!

I have a horse that once carried my 170lbs four miles in 7:45. Very close to a world record. Wasn't even pushing him. Unfortunately for him they don't have races that suited his powers. Kind of like limiting Haile G to 800's and 1500's. He'd still be a good runner but not great.

I have the fastest dog. He's a two year old Australian Shepherd and his name is Austin. He told me he'd race any dog, any time, any place. Recently he ran 10 miles with me in 57 minutes. When we got home, he wanted to play fetch.
