He joined a training group full of athletes managed by an Italian and getting a program written from thousands of miles away by an Italian. There is no Italian there on a daily basis or even a sporadic basis.

However, even if there were then it would be in no way suspicious. The letsrun message boards do not count as 'left right and centre' and that is the only place where those you are talking about are 'implicated'.

Yes I would have bet on Hall. Was this a joke question?? When Hall ran 59:43, Rupp's 10k PR was 27:33. That means Hall was literally going twice as far at the same pace.

Obviously it could improve by August 2015, but he has a 13:13 5k PR. He didn't even win his HM race.

When was the last Championship that somebody won the 5k or the 10k (or medaled) with a 13:13 5k PR?

I think it was the 1983 World Championships at 5k. Eamonn Coghlan won in 13:28 with a 13:19.13 PR from 1981.

Since then I believe every winner of a 5k has had a better PR and every winner of the 10k have had a comparatively better mark in the 10k.

It looks like Ngugi had a 13:22 PR in 1988 before he won the Olympic Title in Seoul (in 13:11.70). But the WR was 12:58 at the time and was set just the year before. His 13:11.70 was the fastest 5k of 1988 and the slowest list-leader in seven years (since 1980 - Miruts Yifter - 13:16.38).

Ryan did beat Galen right after his HM record, as Galen was recovering from his hyperthyroid ailment. Galen went on to win the "bigger" Stanford 10000m a month later. So while you are right in that Ryan would win the moment he ran the AR, as Rupp was sick, you are not right that he was a superior 10000m runner that season.

How is my reasoning bad? I defended the position that one would bet on a healthy 2007 Rupp vs. healthy 2007 Hall over 10000m on a track. I am not playing a guessing game on what Hall could have run. Hall would not run away from a healthy Rupp. Hall would not outkick a healthy Rupp. The smart money would have been on Galen. Part of that is the understanding that many races are tactical and that at the time no US runners were running in fast 10000m races except the ones in Palo Alto. Ryan would not have won the 2007 Payton Jordan 10000m - there is no doubt in my mind.

LOL, Rupp fanboys are working overtime to justify why Rupp is unbeatable, at any, and all distances, by anyone, no matter how much faster they have run a distance than Rupp ever has.
