Unless your car was flattened to the back of your front seats and you're now in a wheelchair, it was not 70mph. There's a big difference between being hit at a velocity of 70mph, and being hit when a vehicle is rapidly decelerating from once being at 70mph.

One woman showed up at my house just as another was leaving and...you know. It was a long time ago and I was a lot younger.
Many years ago, I was flying solo in pilot training in a Cessna 172. On the way out to my training location, I was climbing about 2,000 feet above ground level and the plane just wasn't climbing as fast as it should. I looked around the cockpit for a cause. When my eyes came to the fuel pump switch, I thought it was in the off position. In a reflex action, I reached over and flicked the switch.
Well, the fuel pump was actually on and I turned it off! The The engine quit. The propeller spun a couple more times and stopped. In a instant, it got eerily quiet. I can still remember that precise moment, the steady drone of the engine replaced by the whistle of the wind. The nose dropped through the horizon and the plane went into a glide.
I did an emergency restart and it fired back up, but I'll never forget those few seconds.
Maybe not quite what the thread was going for, but I remember the moment I fell in love. I had been falling in love with the girl for months of course, but there was finally a moment when it truly overcame me, and I knew without any shred of doubt I was IN love with the girl, something I really didn't think I was even capable of experiencing until then. I had loved others (family, even friends, etc), but I had never been in love. It's crazy cause now after that experience I know what it feels like to be in love, and I have not experienced it since. I actually broke up with a girl once because after a year of dating I knew I would never be in love with her. She was a fine girl, but I knew we'd never be in love.
I read that people tend to only fall in love about twice in their entire lives, sometimes more though. So far it's something I've only experienced once, and I'm not sure I'll ever experience it again.
Senior year in high school I fell off a roof. I remember thinking, "oh, no" and then I broke my upper body: arm, collar bone, ribs. After this there were some weird, giddy moments when I walked around, sat down, walked around again. I was in shock. I hope to never experience that again.
Kind of a weird feeling, but we visited my mom's aunt on the other side of the country 4 years ago. She was really old at the time, and has since passed, but it was very strange leaving her house knowing that chances are I would never see or speak to her ever again as it was highly unlikely I would be in Vancouver again before she died. We were never close or anything, but it was still a weird feeling.

Hahaha let me clarify. I know Vancouver is nor in the US, but we were doing the Seattle, Tacoma, Vancouver, Victoria vacation thing.

I am an unabashed liberal, and for more than 20 years, I worked for the Labor Board in Washington, DC. I once had a case involving a guy who had been discharged by the National Republican Club of Capitol Hill, right across the street from the Capitol Building. As part of the investigation, I had to go over to the place and take statements all day. At one point, their lawyer ordered a huge lunch, and he asked me if I wanted anything. I said no; even if I had paid, I didn't want to even give the wrong appearance by having lunch with the Club's lawyer.
I clearly remember, being their in the executive suite, thinking how odd life is. There are certain places I never expected to be, even if I lived to be 1,000 years old: inside a bordello, Siberia, the executive suite of the National Club of Capitol Hill, etc.

Absolutely on point. So I did this for about 10 minutes, snapping and controlling them. It was amazing I knew at that point I would never connect with an animal like that ever again. I was basically standing about 1ft. away from a flock of birds and I could control when they chirped. It was awesome.
Love it. Unfortunately my only memorable encounters with birds has been them attacking me on runs lol.

One time I farted so loudly that my cat jumped 10ft in the air and went into hiding for 2 days.
After the regional a few weeks ago I came home and started taking down the batting cage net. I found a young Great Horned Owl trapped in the net. Spent the next 20 minutes getting him out gently. Then he just stood there on the ladder. So I put my finger against his talons and he walked onto my finger and stayed there for 30 min, posing for pictures and everything. I knew for sure that would never happen again! It was magical.
I came a bucketload. It just came and came. I couldn't believe it. I thought I was dreaming but it was real.
You had a cat. Now everything makes sense.
One night I was driving home from a concert with my now ex-wife, and as we drove down our street there was a large white owl right in the middle of the road. I had seen owls in our neighborhood trees before, but never one with such a bright white/silverish color. (And, no, it was not merely a reflection from the car headlights.) I stopped the car and the owl just looked back at us for a couple of minutes before finally flying away.
Anyway, my wife's mother had been baby-sitting for us, and at some point in the evening my wife's dog attacked our cat. My mother-in-law was unable to stop the dog and it crushed the cat to death in its jaws.
I had never been much of a cat person, but this particular cat ended up being my favorite pet ever. It sounds ridiculous (and probably is), but I will forever believe that white owl was the spirit of my cat stopping us to bid farewell before flying into eternity.
When I saw the Raiders play in the Super Bowl. Not a Raiders fan at all, but I knew I'd never experience that again. Playoffs maybe.
