Word on the street is that not everyone wants there to be a pacer involved. Who will win out? It isn't right that there should be advantages like having a pacer in a championship race. Will everyone be given a pacer? I have a feeling that this won't fly.

I am still recovering from injury so the chances of me running in Birmingham are slim to none. Obviously, though, I would be starting the race like everyone else. There are no rabbits in championship races. If some runners want to work together that is their choice.
Genius! Now there is a practical use for a particle accelerator. No excuses now! All U.S. "elites" should run 2:08 or better under these controlled conditions.

Add up their times in Birmingham for bragging rights. Will NIKE show HANSONS once and for all who knows how to develop distance runners?
This is a tough call. Can a multi-billion dollar corporation out spend (I mean develop) a individual store? First of all Chad Johnson already had to be bought because of his excellent development with Hansons. I think that this will happen more and more to keep the little guy from embarrassing the giant. I guarantee at least one of the Nike guys will dnf.

Johnson is hurt from training for the Birmingham race, Hanneck is not properly prepared, but may still be running as IS officially still entered. Rogers, he was listed as an inquiry; though it may of been in a "pacer" capacity. Who knows, but they were on the list. Of course, I was right on when I named the Hanson guys and the other entries wasn't I clown!

I would love to see what Chad Johnson could do in a marathon. As for Graff and Shay, I could see Graff pulling out as he seems to lack integrity, but Shay seems to maintain good old midwestern values. And you were right on most of the other entries (although the race hasn't been run yet.) I was simply calling bullsh#t on your statement that people at Meb and dBrowne's level were debuting. None of the Nike athletes that were stated were ever running the marathon. The focus for all these athletes were the Cross Country Trials. Can't believe everything you read!!!
I am not sure who Nike's 3 man will be, so I am betting on Hansons. We are now only 5 days away so we will no longer have to listen to the Bull Shit. If it is true that Hanneck and Johnson and Donnelly are pointing toward cross country it is a hell of an experiment. The purpose of the Oregon Project is to increase american presence in the Marathon. It is now 12 months before the Oly Trials and they have one qualifier. They have been in existence for a year and a half now and they have one qualifier. I can hardly wait until next year when they start telling us it is an olympic year so we are not going to try anything different this year. I believe that Hanneck will be 37 in 2008 and the entire group will be over 30. Keep in mind that Alberto has claimed that the weakness in the marathon in the U.S. is young guys not making the commitment to the marathon earlier. How does this all make sense?
Philimon Hanneck is over 38 currently, he was running 27:30 in 1994, c'mon, so he is toast
