HELP!!! 23mile long run in 5 hours and I am drunk right now . Hangover cure needed quickly!!

try it when you're 25/30/35/etc...you weren't running good because you could handle the booze, you were just at a stage where your body could manage it (but not without some detriment to performance). doesn't last.

honestly, you'd be best off sleeping in and just running on your own later in the day. I'm assuming since you are going 23, this isn't practice for your college team. If there is no penalty for missing the run, who cares, well I'd feel about it, but not as bad as I would if I didn't get in quality training.

I agree. This is why I plan long runs on Saturdays and something easy on Sundays: if "something" happens on Friday you can switch the days. I would treat this the same as feeling a tweaked muscle on Saturday morning. Defer the workout.

Why mess up your training week with a useless run where you end up puking 5 miles in and can't hold pace without crapping yourself? (Been there.)

On the other hand, there is something to be said for the discipline of forcing yourself through what you'd planned. If you are the kind of person who this happens to a lot, a few hungover runs can straighten you out pretty fast. (My case.)

But wait: You didn't even drink at the bar, went home nad drank with a girl, did some core, were out by 2-3am ... HOW ARE YOU HUNGOVER? Unless this girl is a shotputter who forced you to do shots for three hours, it's time to handle your booze better. Who has never done a run hungover by 23? :)

We've all had to head out the door hungover on a Sunday morning. should be a rite of passage. , unless youre a monastic type.

A 23 mile long run should to the trick. Just plan some potty stops, and you'll feel just fine and dandy after your run.

where is Jamin when you need him? I'm sure he has encoutered this dilemma numerous times.

A hangover is when you're massively dehydrated. Drink a lot of water.

drink everything in sight. Water, coke, oj...everything. Eat everything in sight. Take a multi and some ibuprofen. Then suck it up. No big deal.

Best thing for me was the BIG blue pill. Would wake up with a bit of the ole irish flu, run to the beach swim in the ocean for a little bit, get out and continue the run. That is the best remedy when whether and location are agreeable.

Coconut water and ibuprofen work for me.

the simple answer is to amend the workout.

Try a 5 mile run in 23 hours instead. Each week you run again after getting drunk, but add one mile and aim for an hour less in total, which will feel quite easy at first. In about five months you'll be a complete legend, or dead, but these are often the same thing.

Why you trolls can't follow up and tell us how the run went?

I went to a bar tonight with no intention of drinking but I met a cute girl and went back to hers. Long story short, drinking ensued. I left an hour ago and I now realise that I am screwed. I have a group long run in less than 5 hours. I had 6 drinks but I suffer from severe hangovers. I am throwing back carbohydrate drinks with electrolytes.

Nah, I am pretty sure he mentioned it.

My prevention was always to eat A LOT after going out. I went to school in the Rochester area, so I'd get a garbage plate and eat it before bed (in addition to drinking a lot of water). 2000 salty calories and a liter of water seemed to have me feeling decent the next morning. The bonus is you can eat a light breakfast - a welcome fact if you're stomach is off.
