Wilson won and had to run fast to do so. I think that's the point when you line up; win. Sometimes that means you have to run fast. She's clearly capable of doing so.
I don't think enough Americans actually expect or intend to win when they race. I find that "truly amazing".
Will Cain ever win a DL and have to run a WL time to do so? Yeah, she probably will if she races enough over the next 5 years. If Al Sal protects her too much and only lets her race a few times per season when he thinks she's super fit, then no, I'd say probably not.

Just focusing on Cain's own event, Jenny Simpson is only 0.22 off the world lead. If Cain can become a 3:57-8 runner, she has a very plausible chance of pulling off a DL win. That's really what it comes down to.

I'd say her year is pretty good so far. Virtually unstoppable indoors, outdoors she's coming along well and if she's healthy will smash her outdoor prs. Track isn't about running fast in April/May/June.

Sounds like a question we should plug into the NOAA climatological pobability forecasting super computer and see what it has to say. Of course we all know the accuracies of this technology. Cain can win the 3k this week if she does not let the Africans get an easy, non pressed lead.
