The 1:46 guys are giving the shoe companies free advertising. They're not being paid to run in these races.

And there are still more Americans who tune in to watch Robby Andrews than just about any other 800 meter runner other than Rudisha, I would guess. People love to watch underdogs. Love to watch potential stars. Love to watch comeback stories before they happen. Love to watch boyish white Americans compete against real men from Africa. He's a valuable 1:46 guy right now.

You're assuming that he has a choice. Andrews is not a sprinter. He's doing about as well as he can on the first lap right now.

Strange that you would bring up this thread considering that Andrews finished last in 1:49.79 yesterday.
His best 2014 time is 1:46.28 so he's not a 1:45 guy right now and whatever trail he is on does not seem to be going on the right direction.
As a bit of a running groupie, how can I fund these guys in Europe? And which are single (or act single)?
