Not necessarily. Lausanne is 5 days after the USA 1500 final and Centro is making a push to become more competitive on the DL circuit. The only way to do that is to get in every DL race he can.

I realize skipping USA's to stay in Europe is also a viable option.

It just seems a bit disrespectful of the national championships if he were healthy.

Lausanne does have a 1500m DL event.

Lashawn Merritt is declared at USA's in the 400 and the 400 is a DL event in Lausanne.

I guess I wouldn't blame Centro too much.

I just think Nationals should be an automatic on your schedule.

In an off year it's a great chance for up and coming B-listers to get experience in competing at National Championship.

There really should be something this year. It's a shame for the US cause other countries have Continental Championships (European, etc.) or the Commonwealth Games. The IAAF World Relays showing it can be a success should be held in the "off" year at the end of the summer.

Those who think that NOP runners are dopers are bunch of idiots. People just don't see how hard the NOPs and other athletes from different show company train to win championship medals.

As for Matthew Centrowitz, there are two possibilities that we can think are the cases since Matthew hasn't said anything about those next two weeks yet.

1: Matthew might've got an injury(slight or severe IDK for sure) after the Bislett Games in Oslo. He would need more time to heal and get ready for run well for the diamond league races in Europe. So this is very likely to be the case

2: Matthew probably decided not to take part of the USA T&F Champsionships this year and just concentrate to runs very fast times in all races in Europe.

Don't get all hepped up when posters accuse NOP athletes of doping. They don't mean it. They just do it to get a rise out of people. Go NOP!!!! We love you guys! Even the haters love you guys!!!!

Centro is healthy. He was at the Portland Track Festival this past Sunday, walking around the athlete area, chatting with athlete and talking to Alan Webb about how he's happy with where's he's at right now. He's definitely healthy. Does he really have anything to prove on the national level though? If he doesn't care about the paycheck that comes from winning a national title, then let him train and go run in the big boy races over in Europe. He needs the experience and will certainly get it. Go Centro!

My bad. But then again it goes to show he wasn't taking the meet seriously if he wasn't in the 5000 and or 10000M

There is some money in, which is pretty good unless you are a Rupp or Felix and in a year with no global championships, saying you are the national champion is the best thing.

While I agree, two thoughts:It used to be worse. The WCs were alternated against the Olympics and every FOUR years, taking place 2 years after an Olympics and thus two years before. Getting hosts is not as simple for the World Championships as for the Olympics or other events. The list of the willing is rarely long.

It'd be nice to see Rupp run only the 5000 at a championships for once to see how it plays out. Don't be silly and mention Bumby as a serious competitor for Rupp though. The other guys only have a very slim chance at taking him down, but Bumby's is exactly 0%. The person with the best shot is probably Hill, if he is in shape.

The 5000m between Lagat and Rupp will indeed be very interesting. Lagat looked much improved in his recent 3000m, but I still don't think he'll be firing on all cylinders until later this summer in Europe. Rupp will be coming off of what I'm assuming will be a walk-in-the-park 10000m victory. This is the best chance I think Rupp has had in awhile to get head-to-head victory #3.

Just noticed Mac Fleet who was accepted/qualified for both the mens 800 and 1500 has scratched from both..Any idea why? I realize he has had a long outdoor collegiate season, just won outdoors, but he would have a great shot in the 1500 in my opinion.

Another interesting note regarding the Men of Oregon-

Trevor Dunbar is entered in the 1500. A confusing move in my opinion after his performance in the 5/10 at NCAAs; he seems stronger than he is fast at this point.
