Rumor in press box. Oregon 4x400 DQ has been overturned.

Not sure what is going on. Officially listed as DQ now in semi-final, but on 4x400m final start list for tomorrow updated this morning at 9:30am, Oregon is listed as running.

You KNOW what happened. Nike bought somebody off other than USATF this time. This is not any different from Albuquerque.

One way to guarantee that track and field dies is to not let everyone have an even chance to compete. I's sure TFAA would agree.

Another accusation on liars rant.com without any evidence. Even more ridiculous as ASU protest was upheld, Oregon was DQ'd and there's no evidence whatsoever that Nike was involved.

Even stranger, if you are making the accusation about The DQ of GB being without merit at indoors, I'd expect that you would want the evidence for why Oregon was DQ'd yesterday as I've yet to see any.

But I forgot the rants on this board aren't about the sport or what really happens. It's just a chance grind axes and sling mud.

Huh? The NFL addresses missed calls by HAVING replay. And before it had replay, it had cameras which documented the controversial calls in the first place. I'm not even a fan of pro football, but on this issue, at least the league is trying to get a fair result, rather than pissing on fans' legs and telling them it's raining.

In the instant case, you have volunteer officials make a decision based on a complaint for which there is no evidence. And they don't decide in the light of day either. They do it anonymously, out of sight, after fans and competitors have gone home, on the basis of ...well, nobody really knows. Someone complained? An interested party? A competitor who stands to benefit? What happens to common sense application of rules like an alleged violation has to have resulted in an advantage to the offender, or has to have impeded the complainer?

Yeah, of course, there are other reasons why a pro sport like the NFL is more popular than the NCAA Track championships. But one of those reasons ISN'T that Joe SixPack can't hoist himself up off the couch and go chugging down the street. In fact, just the opposite. Maybe the average spectator isn't that interested precisely because they don't see what the big deal is. Add to that, however, what looks for all the world like behind-the-scenes chicanery, and you get a sporting event whose credibility is in doubt. And that's exactly what you have here.

Your implying that track and field is unpopular in part due to decisions on disqualifications is fucking hilarious.

As of now, Oregon is not on the start list for Saturday's final.

No evidence Nike was involved?

1) Nike sponsors all athletics gear for Oregon

2) Nike Headquarters is right down the street from the track

3) It's the same track held for the "Nike" Prefontaine Classic

4) Oregon has closed ties to Nike coaches and organization that could and are going to later sponsor a lot of the athletes on Oregon's team

What does that have to do with this situation? Oregon hasn't been reinstated. Nike's relationship with UofO has no relevance to this DQ. So you're right, there is no evidence Nike was involved.

So how are any of those things "evidence" that Nike was involved in trying to overturn Oregon's DQ in the 4x4 ?

This has nothing to do with being out of lanes. All runners had cut by this point of the race. Visit the twitter picture, read the comments that precede it and you will understand the violation. It was supposedly that the outgoing Oregon runner lined up behind the exchange zone triangle.

It was a lane violation based on the twitter picture comments by the review committee.

Wrong rule cited though.
