It's well known that Dan Harper is crazy. The guy has no personal life whatsoever. Nice guy, but running that morning is more indicative of his borderline personality disorder and unhealthy relationship with running. It's sad because the guy could be in medical school and instead runs crazy amount of mileage and gets marginal returns.

I've run without ID plenty of times. Not the other stuff.

It would have been a good idea for him to take ID, especially under the circumstances, but I get it that lots of times runners don't bother or it doesn't occur to them to have some sort of ID.

And police officers do not put their lives on the line every day. They understand going into each day that they might put their lives on the line, but police officers are not thrown into life or death situations everyday. They're very rarely thrown into life or death situations actually. The key is that they are willing to risk their lives to protect others when it is called for.

I was thinking about preemptively responding to this argument but decided not to, because I figured no one would actually think that. You obviously have the right to remain silent. You cannot be arrested for being silent. Being silent is not evidence of guilt. A cop who has detained someone for looking like a terrorist isn't going to let that person go because he says, "Oh, I'm just out for a run!" He isn't going to let that person go for being silent either. But in one situation the person has simply given the officer fodder, whereas in the other he has not.

Dan Harper's goal is to try to qualify for an OT standard.

Therefore this means a lot of work especially if this is the marathon

Oh please, that cop (like 90% of all other cops) didn't choose their profession because they wanted to protect people or whatever altruistic reason some people want to think cops have for going into their line of work. Cops are basically high school graduates that can't get into any other line of work that pays anywhere nearly as well and where they can continue to live like high school bullies and push other people around.

I remember that night I was up late and for fun I check out

some of the "amateur breaking news" feeds.

First on reddit and then a twitter feed that was outputting the text from the police scanner traffic.

So I remember when there was scanner traffic about a potential suspect (Dan) in custody.

And then again when they found he was not the real suspect and released him.

Couldn't agree more. I hate the too often repeated phrase " they put their life on the line every day." It couldn't be further from the truth. Their job is far down the list compared to most risky jobs. I am multiple times more likely to die on the job in construction than a cop is but that doesn't matter in modern Americans interpretation of reality. Like the rest of the way we view the world it's all about sensationalism, not reality.

Fine, I'll give it to you. All black people should be deported immediately. Doesn't matter where they are taken or how they are taken there. That way they can no longer complain about being harmed and harassed based on their skin color. Since obviously America is the worst country in the world.

Borderline personality disorder? Do you have any idea what that is? "Nice guy" with "no social life whatsoever" doesn't fit the profile of a borderline.
