The Pakistani population would be a perfect example of the multi-generational situation to which I was referring.

For the "twice the risk" statistic, this is generally true. However, statistics are useless if you only know the relative and not the absolute. The risks are quite low for both. An increase from 1.5% to 3% is still not a large risk. In fact, the increase in risk for genetic disorders for first cousins in similar to the increase in risk if the woman is over the age of 35. I don't think many people would claim that woman over 35 should be barred from having children.

I'd tap that without hesitation. But wouldn't have kids with her.

Second cousins is too close for me. I don't want to hook up with anyone who is a close enough relative to be invited to a family event. For example, I had a 90th birthday party for my Grandma a few years ago. My second cousins were there. For me that just feels a little too close family wise, but I can't condemn someone that thinks differently as the relationship isn't really that close.

I was a little disappointed as I read through the tread. I figured this answer would've been in the first dozen. I was shocked it was on the second page.

For what it's worth, we're from neither of those states. We both have all our teeth and I actually have indoor plumbing.
