Lauren Fleshman calls out Jordan Hasay to speak up about the whole situation!!

considering that AlSal is the one who has as much control at nike as Capriotti, there is no way in hell that a runner leaves him without consequence. look at the list of athletes who've left him (admittedly, many of them were on the downslope, but still), how many of them still have nike contracts? or any contract at all, for that matter. Nobody is going to "take a stand" against alberto, because it would be suicide.

to another poster, yes it is hilarious about Adam Goucher and his self righteous/cryptic tweet about integrity. pot/kettle/black??? not quite as bad as fleshman's lack of tact, but getting close.

That's a good point but what would happen if not one athlete but a handful of "stars" would leave him?

Maybe then Nike would see that the athletes are worth more than the coach.

Al got Vin in at Oregon so Galen would run there and fixed the growing rift between Phil and Oregon. Huge benefit to the school. Huge benefit to US distance running. Al is not above pushing his weight around. But he's never exhibited a penchant for cheating.

If you want to see how to run well in traffic rewatch the men's 3000. Lagat, Rupp, and Hill ran correctly.

Lauren Fleshman is a TOTALLY JEALOUS and CLASSLESS ACT. She cannot run anymore, yet she still needs to see her name in the sport by calling out others? She's an embarrassment to the sport and to herself. Shame on you Fleshman. Indeed, if you had any integrity, you would apologize to Jordan Hasay.

If they acknowledge past mistakes in this regard, yes. If not, it looks hypocritical.

If Hasay wants to keep her Nike contract she shouldn't say anything. Nike owns USATF and most athletes. There's nothing anyone can do about it. If NIKE pulls out of running - the sport is finished.

If Fleshman wants to be relevant on the running scene (as you can see she desperately does) maybe she should train and run fast again. Until then she should just shut up and stop running her mouth. She preaches for Jordan to "woman up" while she goes around on twitter acting like a piece of gutter trash. Classless, snide people like her are part of the problem with the sport, way more than the "evil" Nike.

I'm sick and tired of these washed up sub elites taking out the frustration if unrealized dreams on their shoe sponsors who rightly dropped them.

There is really nothing for Hasay to say. She is an employee of Nike. She does what her employer says just as all employees do. If her employer tells her she is going to Worlds for a second time to get her ass kicked for a second time, then that 's what she does. She made the choice for Nike to decide for her the moment she signed the contract. If she doesn't like what is happening, and her current body language suggests that she is miserable, then she can resign her employment. Most likely she has some kind of Restraint of Trade clause which will stop her running for a rival team for a certain length of time, but she can still make that choice. If it means that much to her.

Fleshman is saying what many of us are saying. The difference is she has a lot more people listening to her.

Honestly, who here wouldn't like to hear an honest take from Hasay?

Someday, when someone besides your parents are paying your way, you'll figure out that you're gonna have to keep your mouth shut from time to time if you want to pay the bills.

I always supported Nike and what they do for the sport.

But this is total crap.

A little contact in a race is expected. Keeerist I've been elbowed, spiked, whatever many times and I never ran for a pro national championship.

What has Nike being in the sport done for it the last 25 years? Its period of dominance has coincided with running's decline. Running will become more popular when it's athletes are not so tightly controlled by their sponsors (especially Nike). If you want to know why runners are not particularly interesting interviews, it's not because they lack personality or things to say, it's because they're shoe reps first.

It'd be better for the sport right now if it went back to the old days of shamateurism, or, even amateurism. Just a bunch of guys lining up with no other inducement than to see who's the best. That'd be nice to see again.

Here's the thing.

Farah became a world-beater

Levins has improved every PR and taken Canadian Records under him.

Rupp has been with him since high school and has made it to an Olympic Silver.

Cain has been with him for only a short period of time and had gone from high school phenom to one of the best in the US.

Centrowitz just barely missed an Olympic Medal and managed to get another World Silver Medal

Moser has basically resurrected her career

etc.

Incidentally, these are the stars (Moser maybe not so much), and because their livelihood is running, it actually makes NO sense for them to leave. Trust me when I say that they know that Salazar is half-insane with all of his micromanaging this, post-race workouts that, etc. They're with him because he delivers results.

Take it from their perspective. They can look at all the other coaches, and they can all see that their future isn't nearly as good with them, regardless of the fact that the other coaches would probably be much easier to deal with mentally.

It was all a work to generate interest in the sport.
