Are you joking? Cain lived in NY last year with an internet/phone coach in Salazar and ran crazy times. She also ran crazy times as a soph without Salazar.

Why would a girl who has run 4:24 run against high school girls? Maybe if she could race boys.....Efraimson at least could push her a little....but Cain is probably an 8:40 3k right now.

Efraimson's 9:00 is insane! I didn't think a Cain record would be touched for at least a decade. But it looks like we've got several history-making high school girls all in high school at the same time right now. Efraimson COULD BE a Cain 2, but more distance oriented (XC Title, but doesn't have the 800 greatness). I'd love to see Cain run a 3k right now, I'd expect under 8:50.

Also, I expect Cain to have great improvement this year, including great improvement from her recent 4:24 mile, considering that Salazar was working on her form or whatever this fall and she was barely running which means she is behind her normal base from XC so she's probably still in the early stages of the yearly training cycle. Just a guess though.

It's very likely that Cain would have gotten 4th in that xc race. There's no clear indication that she's worse than Cain in xc because they did in fact improve about the same since last year. And if they both improved the same, then that means that the gap in xc ability hasn't changed.

It's very likely that Cranny and Effraimson would have beaten both of them. Cain's too speedy and Baxter's too long distance oriented, but Cranny and Effraimson are perfect for 5k xc.

Gotta wonder how SB would have done with a light racing sched and same long rest the others had before the NXN final. That said, Cain would destroy Efraimson and the others in a 5k XC race - and at any distance on the track up through 5k. Cain gave everybody some higher targets. At least the girls aren't intimidated. Unlike white boys and white men, most of whom who have sjccjmbed to 50 years of brainwashing from the red diaper babies and their offspring, the most "tolerant" of all peoples. Just ask them. lol
