i have an american freind who is on a corporate team, IS that the way to go if you want to race over there?, getting on one of those teams?
Are there many good soft surface places to train in Japan? whick towns do you like?
Im from Eugene, OR and LOVE itin Eugene, any places similar over there?

Yes, you will need to get on one of the corporate teams if you want to be able to eat and sleep in a decent apartment in Japan.
You will need to be low 28's in the 10km as a gaijin to make one of the corporate teams.
Believe me, Alan Culpepper and/or Dan Browne would have a difficult time getting into any ordinary track meet in Japan if they just happened to be training there and suddenly they just wanted to race.
The JAAF (japan amateur atheltic federation) have complete and utter control over who gets to race in Japan in any track or road race. If a top foriegner such as Alan Culpepper or Dan Browne just suddenly wanted to jump in a track meet, first they would have to tell the USATF to ask the JAAF permission to let them in the race. It's that bad.
