I think you are missing the point, you cant make an assumption that Stephen Kiprotich was in the same shape, because he clearly showed that he wasn't on race day! Also marathon runners can have a bad day at the office, Such as Geoffrey Mutai dropping out of the London marathon, that does not make him a bad marathon runner. Or Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich finishing in 2:08 in London. which again was a bad day at the office. So give the Olympic and World marathon champion a break!!!
Stepen Kipreotich is not a fluke at all. Although he is from Uganda he trains with the best across the border in Kenya including Mutai and company. He won an Olympic Gold and World Championship Gold in the marathon and only had 11 weeks between marathons, this was more a race to get some appearance money and have a good training run, yes those East Africans can train at 2:10-2:13 pace and it not be an all out effort but a nice solid Long Tempo Run. He might of struggled even if he was racing all out as their was strong wins, but he still beat our top American. What is more pathetic is that we only had what 2 under 2:22? And only 1 women under 2:40. It must of either been tough conditions or our Americans aren't preparing themselves properly. I suggest that we all should go train with the Kenyan stable as thats how the other good non Kenyans and Ethiopians get better! Ryan Hall at least tried their method but it takes somebody young to handle their training.

Oh, I think they do, if the Great North Run is anything to go by. I mean, a 40-year-old and a past his prime great coming from an injury? Totally set up for Farah. They know the feel-good factor from a British winner would be impossible to measure. Stephen Kiprotich might be asked because of his slower PB, but don't expect Wilson or Geoffrey.
