Two women have broken away, one of them is Daba who was second last year. The leader is working left to right to keep Daba from drafting. Its going to be a long Marathon for the leader, 6:17 for the first mile and the rest of the pack is at least 30-40 seconds back
Apparently only 6:17 for the first mile. Doesn't seem too suicidal to me but I don't know what it's like on the ground. Makes me wonder why the pack is so slow? It's only 2:44 pace

A handchair race, really? I'm assuming these are able bodied people, why would they need to include that in a marathon?

Women's race starts in less than an hour. We're about to leave the hotel and head to the media room. In case you've been sleeping, the big news is we've gone out on a limb and are predicting a pedestrian men's winning time:
We'll check out the wind before getting on the subway and post and update about before the race starts hopefully.
Should be a fun and exciting day. Live national TV coverage for first time in 20 years. Keep your fingers crossed for ESPN2 (warning, there will be lots of feature stories particularly early on first half which we are fine with, but just forgot to mention that in my initial piece).

i was thinking the same thing….while the wheelchair competitors are athletes, calling them "runners" and trying to draw comparisons about someone winning all 4 majors in one year is just absurd.
no mention in these stories ever about how physically impossible it would be for a runner to win boston and london in the same year because the physical strain between running and wheeling do not even belong in the same universe.

I've got no problem with that. What do you want to see, them running side by side with little happening. You have to set the story, give the viewers the background so they know what they are watching. Most ESPN viewers aren't on LetsRun.com 24/7.
GUYS! It's not about the race. Its about the story! Come on, you can't be serious that you are watching the live feed/espn2 to actually watch a race.
