Im surprised this hasn't gotten more attention. Some of the nation's best teams are flying into Boston to race at Franklin Park. Anyone have meet information?

Sept. 24, 2013

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women’s cross country team will be hosting the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown – BC XC Invite this Friday, Sept. 27. The meet will be held at Franklin Park in Boston, with the women’s 5k race starting at 3:30 p.m. and the men’s 8k race starting at 4:15 p.m.

“We’re really excited to host this competition,” said head coach Randy Thomas. “On the women’s side we have 15 teams, three of the top nine teams in the country – Providence one, Oregon three, Cornell nine – so this is a great opportunity for us. Wisconsin women are coming in, they’re ranked top four in their region, so it’s a great opportunity for out-of-region points for at-large criteria for qualification into the NCAA [Championships].”

Boston College is currently ranked 24th in the country, as announced by the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I National Cross Country Coaches' Poll on Sept. 23.

Super obvious they're going to lose. No one on the team has broken 25:15.

I believe there's a list of participating schools about two posts above yours.

In any case, the BC men never had the meet on their schedule, and it is specifically being hosted by the BC women. The men are coming off a disappointing performance at Iona, will be training hard through this (off) week, and are looking to run closer to their potential at Paul Short the following weekend.

The entered school I have known for several weeks. The individuals from each school I do not. Example. It has been posted that Eric Jenkins is not running. How does one know that unless you have inside information?

The "Troll" that posted Eric Jenkins will not run Friday for Oregon was not a troll. Jenkins, Mac Fleet, Lindsay Crevoiserat, Julia Zrinyi, and several other top 7 runners are not entered for the Ducks. So ----- are there injuries, runners that did not return to school, recruited runners that did not show up, coaches being sneaky, or ???

Alumni and athletes alike are very upset with the way head coach Matt Kerr has handled this situation. First refusing to run in their home meet, a competitive meet at that then running his team into the ground. The winds of change are starting to blow at BC on the mens side. He does a decent job recruiting but no athlete has left the school as a senior and had a positive view of him. Team is starting to revolt too.

Not disputing the quality of Massachusetts distance running, but Deena Drossin went to Agoura High School in California. While she was born in Waltham, I think it's a stretch for Massachusetts to claim her.

It's very normal for collegiate programs to hold guys out from racing in September, even if they are healthy and eligible.

It looks like the Oregon men will be running Stinson, Elkaim, Pickering, Melancon and Brewer, at a minimum. That's not exactly a Don't Cry For Me Argentina line-up.
