Is it not a senior prize he won?

Things must have changed in America,i always thought it was almost impossible to get in without following strict laws for residency,work permits etc.Seems like green cards are readily available.

I am Eliud's friend and have been helping him out since he has been in the States.

Unfortunately, he did not win a dime in Sunday's Philly RnR half. Being listed on Letsrun does not mean the same as being listed in the race organizers' official results.

His birth certificate lists his date of birth as November 12, 1993.

He is not getting paid from Sunday's race, as he is not an American citizen. To make sure of this I just e-mailed the elite coordinator.

If Eliud wants to be the best runner he can be and go out and run all of these races, then good luck to him.

I am glad the US can provide him with this opportunity.

Obviously the whole American prize money thing seems like a clerical error that has been corrected.

A quick google search shows the Ngetich moved to NYC about 6 months ago.

His facebook page notes he was in the Class of 2008 at Tapsgoi High School. I'm not sure how much the Kenyan education system differs from outs, but someone who finished high school 5 years ago is only 19?

It's possible it's a simple typo.

That lists the 4th US man (Criscione) as 35, and he's only 25 (maybe 26).

He likely came in on a professional athlete's visa - indicating he probably has an American agent/manager repping him.

But what about Ezyskas Sisay - the NYC marathon legend (and Flagstaff, AZ resident) who was banned for two years. Should his visa be revoked because he is not meeting the requirements of his visa.

And did he return the prize $$$ that rightfully belongs to Christian Hesch????

Christian Hesch is an admitted doper, and doesn't deserve ANY prize money. He rightfully won nothing - he's a cheater.

I believe that was part of Codger's point.

Here's hoping Eliud Ngetich - whatever his exact age may be - is abiding by the doping rules and has a long and successful career.

Apparently he is a little younger now than he was in August.

Course is legit 5000, not downhill. Start and finish very near each other, a little uphill at beginning, then a little down, but primarily flat with a few tight turns.

Check the race history, has been steadily in the mid to low 14s last several years. Last year was over 95 degrees at race time.

This year they got lucky with competitors and weather and had a few standout performances.

LetsRun.com has received an email from a visitor who has been serving as Eliud Ngetich's sponsor in the US and it said Ngetich did not receive any prize money for his run in Phily. The race press-release with the results was in error.

I think everyone would find it a bit more truthful if we got confirmation from the race directors themselves.

You mean the race directors who work for an organization with a stated bias against the competitive side of the sport? Their employer no longer has an interest in who places where in their races, why would they give a rip?

Another question: if CGI is dropping money for elites, does this mean they'll be dropping doping controls at their races, too?

Thanks for the info. The name was misspelled and that is why I couldn't find info on him. The course is actually kind of hilly the first mile, mostly flat the second mile and the last mile is straight and flat. It is certified and is on the usatf site here.

Always great competition here. Pretty sure they comp a lot of runners. Hesch showed up a few years ago. The weather was pretty nice that night at 75° and low humidity.

The guy at the 2 mile said he went through in 8:30 after that 4:12 first mile.
