I think that Hall is doing exactly what he should be doing right now. 29:43 isn't great, but it isn't the end of the world either. Didn't he run like a 1:05 half right before Boston 2011?

Meb is not a B level runner lol. He's also a marathoner runner, not 10k specialist. He's also 38 years old!
Deena really impressed me. Why didn't she try to run the 10k in Moscow? She could have made the team.

Looks like nothing changed with Ryan Hall, he barely runs 10k a bit faster than his marathon pace of the past.

And she is running a pedal-to-the-metal 10k today? Isnt the W Marathon on day 1 in Moscow? 7 days from today?
Between this and jet lag issues (since she isnt there..) it seems clear she is mailing it in for Moscow.

Hall's 1:05 half before his boston 2011 was in a very hot, humid day in Philly. I saw the runners in that half at mile 11 and they were all wilting in the heat. Nevertheless, if hall is indeed coming off huge base without speed work, hall may still have a great marathon before him. I hope so.

28:37's a strong performance from meb. I don't recall him running that kind of time in a road race for pretty many years. obviously, he was the American record holder in the track 10k at 27:13 but that was a long time ago. Hall just does not have the will to do any faster training, but that is what is necessary for him to make the breakthrough (or even to reach where he was before) necessary to compete for majors wins. Canova would've been great for him if he could have stuck with the program. However, he needs someone physically present and he needs very high quality training partners to push him.

Meg got 2nd in the Olympics, 4th LAST YEAR. Centro was 4th last year too. Guess he is a has been too? At worst, Meb is still in the top 5 of Americans in the Marathon, maybe #1.
Can't argue so much with Hall since he has not run a world class race in several years now.

no one is mentioning it, but thats a great run by Steele. She's now 59 seconds faster on the road than she was on the track. If she makes her marathon debut this fall...

You're joking, right? Pappas looks like a Smurf.
Meb's run was solid and indicates he is on his way to a decent marathon (under 2:10) if he stays healty.
Hall is a whole different story, the guy just seems lost. He went in wanting to run 4:40 pace which is 29 flat. He said he wanted to improve on his Bay to Breakers race where he ran 4:46 pace and Peachtree where he ran 4:42 pace. Today he ran 4:47 pace. He needs a coach but he doesn't want to listen to anyone. If he rans and finishes New York it may be the slowest marathon of his career.
Also, props to Deena, her time was solid too. Maybe Hall should go back to Mammoth and have Andrew Kastor coach him.
