Well I know from personal experience what its like to be walking behind or close to a tall person with bad body odor and the level of my head is closer to their butt because of their height and it is an uncomfortable position to be in. Tall people should be the ones feeling self conscious, given that fact.

Height is probably mildly positively correlated with intelligence, due to nutrition as someone previously mentioned. At our firm, there are brilliant guys under 5'7 and over 6'2, and I doubt there's any meaningful correlation. Very muscular (football player) types probably are in fact less intelligent...there are definitely genetic/sociological explanations for why this could be.
Being tall does help with dating for sure. I've gone out with numerous girls (fashion models who love wearing heels included) in the 5'8 - 5'10 range, and they always talk about their height as a limiting factor to their potential dating pool. Most of my significant relationships have been with girls under 5'6, despite my "ideal" height probably being around 5'8.
It's cool to be able to dunk - it sucks when flying economy though.

It strikes me that almost EVERYONE is answering the wrong question here. He asked if tall people ARE ASSUMED to be stupid, not if tall people ARE stupid. Or maybe all the responses are a big joke that I just don't find funny. I would say yes, people are surprised when someone 6'3"+ is really smart. I don't know why. Perhaps because it is doubly improbable that someone would be both a physical and intellectual extreme.
And that post about Shaq I assume is a joke. That guys is clearly of pretty average intelligence. No way can you convince me Shaq is some kind of genius. I have never heard him say anything intellectual.
He's too big to sit in a desk and do lab work so we will never know how booksmart shaq is. His size just isn't conducive to being in an academic environment and collaborating, etc. I imagine holding a pen, doing charts, stuff like that would be more challenging, as well as trying to fit in a cube with other workers.
His physical extremes make it difficult for him to pursue any academic endeavors. Sure, Shaq may actually be smart, but cant really fit in an academic environment.
My roommate in law school was 6'9" and built like a truck. Had long blond hair and was fond of the herb....people used to call him Thor. Was Gene Simmons for Halloween. He'd be the first one to tell you he looked like a meathead.
Anyway....one of the smartest MF'ers I've ever met. Yale undergrad and crushed law school without even trying. He was one of those people who just understood everything and had it all figured out without putting in much effort. Multi-stated the bar exam without taking a single review class. One of the nicest guys you'd ever meet too...would give you the shirt off his back.
I would have said the premise was too obvious, but you got a lot of bites, so what do I know?

Well, I had *tried* to answer the OP's actual question. (And yes, I'm aware you used the "almost" qualifier in your post.)
When I was a shorter person (much of my childhood and adolescence), I was never aware of a "tall folks are dumb" stereotype. Muscular folks, maybe (*maybe*); tall ones, no.
[Actually, most of the big/muscular people that I knew personally were pretty smart, so I probably wouldn't have been alert to such stereotyping anyway.]
Then, when I grew past the OP's dividing line, I was not aware of being the recipient of any particular "tall = stupid" meme. Perhaps this is because I was brilliant myself.
Or, in the alternative, perhaps I was too dumb to notice.

Of course people 6'2" and taller are stupid. Everyone knows that. Starts at 5'8", but the stupidest of them all are 6'2" and over.
But would you really want to be Shaq's height? I imagine he is used to it though at his size, but stuff like intimacy and romance would just be so limited for him, even if he had a submissive side, he just wouldnt fit the role at all.
In any bedroom situation, even if Shaq had a soft side, he's pretty much forced to play the role of the dominant. I couldn't imagine a 5'8 woman sitting on his face.
