Adidas Lightstrike

Mike, I've got a pair on order at my local runner's shop. Spoke with a couple of the runners there and they love the shoe. Is there thought of making a racing shoe with the same type of outsole?

Are you talking about the litestrike or the supernova comp?

I like the litestrike so far on easy 10 milers. Going to take them out for a 12 mile MP run tomorow and a 20 miler on Sunday. If they pass the test they will be my marathon shoe. I am 5-11 146 pounds 2:45 marathoner.

The litestrike, I know it is new to the market, but didn't know if a racing shoe based on it was in the works. I plan on testing mine and then using them down that the White Rock half marathon and perhaps the Motorola(or whatever it's new name is)in February.

Felt great for the 12 mile MP run. I will roll with these for the marathon. Had too triple tie very tight due to laces but had no problems except took me five minutes to untie.

The toe box tapers too much for me and after two weeks I have noticeable wear on the lateral heel. I just got my Nike Milers and like the fit, feel (transition) and weight better then the adidas.

I would but for two things - I have not tried them on yet so if they don't fit well then I am out $66... I like supporting the local place when I can I get great service there and was going to try on a few that was just one of the ones I wanted to try to see how they compare to others...

Maybe I will see if I can find them somewhere else and then just buy them there when they com ein if I like them.

I have four running shoe stores around me and they hardly ever carry lightweight trainers. I chose long ago if they do not wish to cater to my type of runner then I will buy off the internet. If they do not fit, send them back. You will only be out about $10 shipping to and fro. R

We need more guy's like yourself to request this type of shoe from local stores (on a regular basis). More specialty stores will carry light weight trainers/racers if there is an audience.

Note the Adios Lightstrike run's true to size. A person that currently wears a men's Boston Classic size 11, should order the same size in the Adios.

We have new colors coming out in the Adios for 2005...so the shoe is a carryover with updated colors...

We are planning a similar, but much lighter racing flat for 2005.

I am bumping this thread. But just to say who cares? I could give a rat's ass to know that Adidas has a new color coming out in the future. The shoe will suck because of the fit. Adidas hasn't made a shoe that has fit a wide variety of feet in the past 10 years. That is why they slip further behind each year.

That's funny. Adidas is one of our best selling companies. The Supernova Classic and Control are two of the best on the market right now. I'm pretty sure that we are not the only company like that.

Just because they don't work for you (or because you have a grudge against them for some reason) means little to the company overall.

I also work in a running store. They do horrible in our market in all of the running specialty accounts. Adidas as a company has been getting a smaller share of the running specialty market overall each year. So just because it does well in your store doesn't mean the company doesn't have problems.

Oh and those are the only two shoes we sell from Adidas. But even those two don't work very well with orthotics. They have fit issues.

barefoot boy--maybe your store doesn't sell adidas very well, but that certainly isn't the case for all of the nearly 400 running specialty dealers; adidas certainly isn't losing market share...indeed, it is certainly gaining based on recent updated models like supernova control and brevard...sounds to me like you just have a beef against adidas...and, so no one questions my motives, i do work for adidas, which isn't number one in volume at running specialty, but isn't anywhere near the bottom half of the spectrum...nice effort though on the huge generalization based on you experience...

Great article/interview in RT. Saw some Lightstrikes on Ebay from Asia in clean white colors with mild red or, separately, blue stripes. Is this a knockoff? Or a future colorway? Ironically, Oliver found me a pair of 96 (Peachtree PR shoes) Adios. They feel great. May run Chicago in them. Love the Cubatos, but will you wait for me at the 20 mile mark and lace them on my feet for a fast last 10k??!!!!
