This is not like Felix-Tarmoh. The NCAA TEAM winner is not going anywhere. I'd go for the number of Team event winners, but there's no reason to come up with some kind of fake stat that 99% of coaches and fans would complain about anyway.

Remove the other teams and score it as as a dual meet. Favors schools with a lot of scorers in lots of events.

That sounds like fun but if it was for real, how many baton drops would there be in a 30x1 if people were really running full out - some of whom never run relays? 10?
You'd have to let people pick up the baton or everyone would run it so safe that it would be boring.

8 lap relay, 6 persons per team. Teams set the distances per leg any way they choose, but all 6 have to run.

Actually, I prefer the NCAA's method for breaking ties (in order to advance teams from a Regional meet to the National meet). I'll let you look it up. At least it doesn't put the decision in the hands of someone who wasn't good enough to be in his/her team's top five.
