bet my life she is doing it on PEDs.
talk to mediocre HS xc runners, they know how to get EPO from pharmacists and she is not taking it? right...
You're a moron. Cain's father is an Anesthesiologist, you really think he' allow her to take PEDs...
What funeral parlor would you like to use? Wood for the coffin--oak, walnut, a cheap pine? She ran 4:11 last year, with terrible arm carriage (which has improved greatly already), and now she's being coached by Salazar. Some people are capable of greatness!

Always possible but in that case I think you have to be claiming she started shooting EPO at 14 when she hit that 2:03.xx 800m relay split 'cause from there her progression looks normal to me.
I'm in love with her reaction when she finds out her time.

That look on her face. The way she falls to her knees. That scream of elation. Everything. It makes me relive all of my best races. It makes me so happy.
much more likely that she is on PEDS b/c her dad is an anesthesiologist. they know how to read the medical literature and do blood tests themselves to monitor blood thickness - hematocrit. Epo is relatively riskless if taken correctly. She has an ace in the hole.
Look at Webb, his dad was also a doctor, he was the biggest PED bust in American running. Running 3:53 in HS - not on PEDs? Right. These are not Kenyans and Ethiopians, people who are born gifted, these are bread and butter Europeans - people not designed to be athletes.
Paavo Nurmi used test, Lasse Viren was blood-doping, Armstrong? Come on.

Do you practice being an a$%hole?
Shorter's dad was a doctor and Frank went to medical school.
Certainly possible. Have never seen Webb's dad on TV but do find Dr Cain a bit creepy although I still think it's less than 50/50 that he started dosing his daughter with EPO at age 14. Thoughts on Coe / Ovett / Cram et al from late 70s / early 80s?
Can't say I'm familiar with "test" but none of Nurmi's time would be WC now. On the other hand, Ryun's times from his 19 & under days still would stand out from a junior today. Tough for me to see a plausible claim that he was doping but if you have one, let's see it.

Which is basically the same thing as a hematologist and endocrinologist. I'm sure he's just like that dentist who do breast augmentations for some extra pocket money.

I hope she's reading this - Mary, you know you're good when the LetsRun peanut gallery start talking PED nonsense. Especially when you're a white American.
Fantastic run.
I'm a mediocre (17:17) high school runner and I do not currently possess the knowledge of how to attain PEDs... you're an idiot...

No, it just comes natural to him.
Please say that you don't seriously believe an anesthesiologist is the same thing as a hematologist/endocrinologist?
Why was she so excited to break 2:00?
She ran 4:04 for 1500m already and that's way better than 1:59. Anyone running 4:04 should be able to break 2:00 pretty easily right?
Not sure about that. We had a 3:59 kid in high school who was always about 2:01 for the 800. And he really wanted sub 2:00. I think they are at least comparable (1:59 and 4:04, that is). If anything, maybe the 1:59 is more impressive? Though they're both incredible.

Was my sarcasm so hard to tell?

Actually, Shorter went to law school. What do you make of that?

The curve is a little different for women, I think, perhaps because they don't tend to have the same top-end speed that guys do. 53 for open 400 would be typical for a sub-2 800 in high school for a guy, or even 52, 51 relay. I don't think Mary is that fast, but I don't know. So the short distance at the higher speed is rarer for women.
