Rorey Fraser - new Colorado soil record for the mile tonight!!

I ran the sprints in Colorado during the Goucher era and I specifically remember multiple 4 minute mile or faster equivalents for the 1500m run at several local meets. I can't remember specific times but they were surely faster than a 4:03 (3:45 or better). Honestly I don't remember any of the outdoor collegiate meets in Colorado ever running the mile, not at CU, CSU, UNC, Airforce or Mines. Maybe at Western State or Adams State but I've never been to their tracks. In fact I don't think either CU or CSU have the start line for the mile even marked on their outdoor tracks, though admittedly it's been years since I've stepped on CU's track.

Not that I recall, but maybe a Google search will find something. But I do remember the race and now the year. It had to be 1999, and it was the WAC not MW conference meet (they split that summer). Berryhill was pushed in both the 1500 and 800 by Clyde Colenso of SMU (via South Africa), who I believe went on to race the Olympics in Sydney. Great races.

There's definately a mile start line At Potts. BRR have mile track races on Thursdays in the summer that include miles.

Ted did hold the American record for 3 miles. I saw him interviewed a couple of weeks ago and said he mis spoke when he said 5000.

Ted was 4th in the 1976 Olympic Trials 10,000m. And also ran in the trials marathon in 1980 during the boycott year.

He also did run 3:58 for a mile at sea-level.
