I referenced the first amendment and used hyperbole to point out that freedom of speech is ingrained in the American culture.
It's absurd to say that Nick Symmonds should not speak out on a subject because it doesn't conform to how a poster on the LetsRun forum thinks an elite T&F athlete should behave.

Nothing about "how an elite T&F athlete should behave." Just some people wish some others would STFU. That's all.
My own opinion is that Symmonds speaking out and making waves is fantastic for the sport and takes a good deal of personal courage. So I have very high regards for him. But I understand that others have different opinions - including the "he should just STFU" crowd.
