Lagat calls out Kevin Liao from Flotrack on Twitter

I guess I don't see what's so hostile about the way he reacted, but admittedly I could be biased by my recent distaste for FloTrack in general.

Perhaps Twitter just isn't the best place for a well articulated a thoughtful request? I mean, he has every right to ask for his name/image/words to not be falsely used for a for-profit company's publicity, doesn't he?

Probably just hard to sound gentle in 140 characters.

I mean, Flotrack does have a thing for hyping up record attempts that aren't record attempts. Or overhyping possible record attempts. They wrote an entire "article" about how Galen Rupp's opener at UW was a possible WORLD record attempt, which was entirely (not very smart) conjecture.

Also, having just read that, this Mitch Kastoff fellow calls the odds of winning the lottery or breaking the world record "incredibly high." I don't think he understands how odds work.

If Kevin whatever his name is linked to an interview or the information he was going on, it would be legit. But just throwing out apparent falsehoods with no basis is shoddy treatment of whatever relationship he has with Lagat.

Someone posted earlier in the thread that Liao doesn't work for flotrack. Is that true? I totally thought he did.

If Lagat isn't a coward hiding behind his workouts and family and busy life, he will agree to a pay-per-view debate on Flotrack about whether this will or won't be a world record attempt.

This was someone else posting as me. And, no, I didn't misspeak. The person who wrote that article confused what odds are and how they work and I was poking fun at him. Read the article, you'll see. "High odds" means there is a good chance of something occurring -- Kastoff, the "writer" there, uses it to say there's little to no chance of an occurrence.

I really don't get the hate on Kevin Liao. He's a good dude and generally a positive influence on this putridly marketed sport. The criticism for this oversight is so over the top on here I think it's a bunch of douchebags trying to out-do eachother in a haterade contest more than anything with the grade school name-calling and shit. No wonder nobody gives a shit about pathetic distance runners. This is a really minor issue twatheads.

To be honest I was a little surprised that Lagat was this blunt with Liao. It seems a bit out of character of him, however I can understand why he would be pissed considering it shows up on his Twitter. Not sure Liao completely deserved it in this case, I think he just made a mistake and got a little trigger happy on Twitter.
