Salazar has admitted to trying to play in the gray area, Why wouldn't his athletes be the most tested?

I get it, people want athletes to be clean. But nobody dreams of being at the top level of sport only to have a needle stuck in them 18 times a year.

I wish I could find this article I read a few years ago. A European athlete who wasn't really any sort of medal threat, but one of the top in his country at his event, claimed he was tested more than most because he was known to be clean. It was a way of advertising to the rest of the world "Hey, our sport is clean!" I can't remember if he was referring to the IAAF or his own country's testing agency, but he implied they didn't want to test dirty athletes (at least as much) as to avoid the bad publicity. I do remember he was tested quite a lot compared to more successful athletes.

It was one athlete's opinion, but food for thought.

When I looked through the list before writing the article, the one I found oddest was Pat Rizzo getting tested 10 times.

you idiot. it's not a test if ritz's lab guys know when exactly the test will be given. they have plenty of time to get the levels down. we have to see ritz's data and curve fit to establish a pattern.

Those are logged tests only. L.A. based Jeter, Bailey, Crawford, Felix, Sanchez, Solomon, Schmidt, Claye, Tarmoh, etc. are tested 100 times a year by local drug testers.

Since so many people seem to have missed this, the number of tests in the list is a combined total for BOTH in-competition testing and out-of-competition testing.

In a top level race, the top 3+ and others at random will be tested. The more you race and the higher you place the more you will be tested. The number of in-competition tests has nothing to do with anyone being suspicious - it has to do with an athlete racing a lot and/or being successful.

So then why was Ritz tested significantly more than Rupp?

Maybe the USADA testers repeatedly went to Rupp's house for out of competition testing and found the wrong skinny runner dude out back on the underwater treadmill?

I don't think you can answer that question without additional information that only USADA would have that would let you break down the circumstances of each test.

I think it is naive to think that if you are friends with someone that you know whether or not someone is doping. I also think it is naive to think that because someone is a Christian that they are not doping.

I will speak for myself. I never doped I was a upper level college runner but knew I would never do anything professionally. However would I have doped if the opportunity came my way? Yes. Would I have told anyone? No just me and the person helping me out with it. Also I am a Christian who most would never believe would do anything like that. The fact is that when it comes to money, ones livelihood, and fame we will see a lot of people do things that we never thought they would.

Why do you believe Hall is clean? Because he talks to God? Maybe God told him that he created EPO and that he did it especially for Ryan.

Considering that some of those runners like Mike Rodgers and Lashawn Merritt have tested positive in the past for banned substances, you would think they would be the ones getting a lot of extra out of competition testing.

Athletes who train in the counties of San Diego, Orange, Santa Barbara, Ribverside, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles are tested at least once a week given the critical mass of international sports, baseball, basketball, and football players within close proximity.
